Premium Member Diesel Posted July 3, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 3, 2003 http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-hea...la-sports-front OK, now we have a test. 4 teams: Three PGs? Utah - Miller Denver - Arenas Miami -??? and Atlanta. Miami supposedly have 7 million to offer for JT. I doubt Riley gives a long term deal to anyone. But supposed he goes for the 7 year 54 million dollar plan? I say, we try to work a SNT. I'd send JT/CC/Hendu for Jones/Carter. Honestly, Miami's offense will be set if Butler can play Point Forward. emeans
I really hope we keep Jason. I think he will be a very important part of the success of next years team. I would like to see what he and Boris can do on the court together. However I do think the Hawks have to have a limit on what they offer. The Hawks are notorious for overpaying its players (i.e. CC, . Koncak, Hendu, Norman). But I would rather overpay JT than any of those scrubs they have overpaid in the past!!! At least he will try to earn that money and try to win!!
Guest
My feeling is that losing JT for nothing sucks.ESP when we drafted this unknown to play next to him.If we do indeed lose him for nothing I think it takes out alot of importance in management. It appears that the so called new mangement and AOL are dicking around for months and months and by time he becomes the owner it will not make much of a difference. swolehawk2
All this BS will do is make us pay more for JT. Along as King and Kasten are making decisions JT will be resigned. They draft a ball handler to let JT focus on scoring...if you listen to King and Kasten it is obvious JT will be back. I think even if we have to basically give Dog or Theo away JT will be here. Hawksman
Guys, it is simple that he is staying in Atlanta. We all should know that by now.
Gray Mule
Swolehawk2, I tend to agree. Our first round pick was made to fit with J.T. He is supposed to be the best at what J.T. is worst at doing { defense } and is a great ball handler {We are told } so to relieve the pressure from J.T. being without a lot of help when he has to handle the ball. Great passer, too. Again, we don't know, but that is what those who have seen him play have reported. Exactly what Hawks needed to go with J.T. Looks like Newble may go to the Bulls. I hate that. I really like him. He plays hard, not just sometimes but all the time. Great defense and his shooting is always improving --- A minor league player who came up to the N.B.A. and with hard work to go with his size and skills on defense, and Hawks probably loose him now. Why can't we loose or trade some of the players who make a lot of money and don't contribute that much? C.C. comes to mind. A good player, worth the money we pay if he is able to play all the time, but not to be a permanent member of the I.R. It's not his fault, i'm sure. He wants to play, but can't. We can only hope he is 100 % recovered for the upcoming season. We need all the help we can get.
KB21
Fellas. The Hawks want to resign Jason Terry. Billy KNIGHT (not King) knows that Jason Terry is a very good basketball player. Jason Terry will remain in Atlanta unless they get blown away by a trade offer for him. Boris Diaw was not drafted to play point guard. He was drafted for two reasons: 1. He's a long, athletic swingman which is the type of player Billy Knight likes. 2. He can provide the Hawks with an auxillary ball handler that will allow Jason Terry to freelance a bit more. What this tells me is that you are about to see the Atlanta Hawks use Jason Terry the way he should be used. They will build the offense around him much like Phoenix does with Stephon Marbury and Houston has done with Steve Francis. He's got the skills to do it. He can get his shot off on anyone that guards him. He's got the three point range and accuracy. He can penetrate and score in the lane. He scores from mid range. He can then create for his teammates off of this.
JaHawk10
I totally agree with KB. Atlanta clearly used this draft to accomodate JT's game. Diaw and Hansen should both be compliments to JT. I believe if Knight and Kasten had plans to let JT walk, they would've drafted differently. I don't know of any guard other than your Iversons, Francis, and Marbury's that you can team in a backcourt with Boris Diaw. JT fits that mold. So relax fellas, JT's an Atlanta Hawk today and he will be one next season...
jjjohns3
For once I agree with you. If we let JT get away then we just let Josh Howard get away for some role-player who we drafted only to play next to JT. ~Peace
