Wurider05
I really hate to see him leave. I don't think that he was given the opportunity to develop here. Watch him go to a team and produce. [censored] Woody!! I am not saying that he is an allstar but they should have used him more. He really played well this season when he got minutes for the most part. DJlaysitup
Salim is simply not a very good player (sorry JB)...He's a one trick pony and he often misses the trick. He will do well at the YMCA. Adios Amigo. another BK draft mistake. from draft analysis: Defense: Largely undistinguished defender. Limited by his size, quickness, poor wingspan, and lack of effort. Swatguy
I would tender a 2 year 4 mil contract with a player option after the first year. He is better than Jeremy and maybe Acie too. He knows what is exected in the system and he is positive in the locker room.

Amen. And I don't think we know how good he is yet. Didn't get a chance to show us.
Premium Member mrhonline Posted June 29, 2008 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 29, 2008 I always find it funny that people defend Salim endlessly when he's not proven AT ANY POINT that he's capable of even playing a limited role, but will throw Marvin under the bus when he's done everything asked of him by the coaching staff. Just one of the many HS inconsistencies.
HawksBalla
I dont think he was given a true chance to succeed. Woody put tons of pressure on him when he said "Salim needs to hit shots to stay on the court". Basically, you miss a shot and Im benching you. I thought Salim played with a good basketball IQ, hustled, and definately had the range that we needed. The Golden State game this year is a perfect example of something we should have been doing during Salim's entire tenure. I blame Woody for misusing him (along with the rest of our bench, and JJ's minutes).
foeteen14
maybe if salim would pump fake then get a better shot he would play more. he just comes in and starts throwing up three pointers it ridiculous. within 2 possessions of him getting into the game he's shooting a 3. i could understand it if was hitting them consistantly, but doesn't do that either. then he doesn't bring anything else to the table. so what exactly is he good for? cant pass, cant rebound, cant play D, and doesnt score well enough to offset all his cants. bye bye salim, i'll always remember those 2 great games u had. While I agree Woodson didn't make the best of his bench, you've got to realize that Salim just isn't a good (enough) player. We needed him to hit shots, and Woodson gave him plenty of opportunities to come into the game and hit shots. His jumpshot was vastly overrated, and his defense is worse than Bibby's. He had no ability to play the PG position, and is entirely too small to play the SG position. I would rather his spot on the bench be filled with a veteran player, definitely. You can't blame Mike Woodson because Salim didn't make shots. And that's exactly what these guys do. I'm watching the movie "Asteriod" on Sci-Fi channel right now, and Woody would get blamed for the asteroid about to hit Kansas City. And they wonder why people call them "haters". Next to JB, I've been one of Salim's biggest fans. But even I had to come to the realization that the Hawks can't afford to let Salim take 4 shots before he finally makes one. LOL @ placing fault on Woody because he said that in order for Salim to stay on the floor, he has to make shots. That's Salim ONLY job . . to make shots. So when you can't make shots, especially the wide open shots, the guy becomes a liability. I guess these guys would rather give Salim 10 - 15 minutes a game, regardless of what he does, and cut JJ's minutes down to 35. Forget that. If a guy like Salim is going to go 1 - 5 . . 2 - 7 FG, I'd much rather play JJ 40+ minutes a game. A specialist like Salim has to come in and IMMEADIATELY make shots. Premium Member Diesel Posted June 29, 2008 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 29, 2008 I believe Salim is a good player. He will catch on with a team that has an established PG and he will do well as a shooter (BU OG).
