Jeremy Richardson.

I've been rather lazy lately on reading all the way thru threads, so forgive me if this has already been posted, but...

...the Hawks did extend a QO to Jeremy Richardson. He's a restricted FA like the other two.

Salim and Mario West are unrestricted - the former as good as gone, the latter easily replaceable. Also, it appears that Solomon Jones' contract is now guaranteed for the remainder of the season.

That is good news. I feel like Salim will have a long career ahead of him but he will probably have to go elsewhere to achieve it. No huge loss based on his production but still a disappointment given the high hopes placed on by many of us. Richardson should be able to easily (and more effectively) replace whatever Salim gave us and I am VERY happy that Solo will be back. I'd like to see West brought back as well, if not someone is sure to give him a chance.

Not making him restricted makes me think that Woodson soured on him, or that Sund doesn't care for players of his ilk (i.e., no offensive ability).

If the Hawks do bring in a wing shooter, that gives you five wings in JJ/Marvin/Chill/JRich/FA, so there's really no room for Mario.

I suspect West will have to go to the RMR and earn his job on the team just as he did last season. Richardson showed a great shooting touch last season and if used properly can be a nice weapon off the bench. If he has good stamina I say run him off screens to free him to shoot and it could also make teams switch causing miss matches.

The people Woody didn't sour on is a short list.

Glad to hear it about Solo and JR. I bet Salim has Delta on his speed dial. I wish him the best.

great news....i think jeremy has a future if he puts the work in and gains confidence and experience...the same with solo....i like mario's hussle, but he HAS to get some type of offensive rythym. not neccessarily a scorer but be, i don't know, better than me.

I would love to see Jeremy become the next RaJa Bell, but he has to be the best defensive player he can in order to get on the court.

yeah if Mario can develop a decent mid range jumper at least but one thing he does have is that he finishes inside a whole lot better than Marvin.I remember the game against the Bucks he started he had 4 points in the first minutes along with some steals and rebounds. He had a nice floater in the lane as well as a slam on the break.

Mario needs to be able to shoot the 3 and improve his handles.

Richardson will be our first shooter off the bench in lue of Salim then?

I would have to think that this was part Woody's doing. He and Salim never did mend fences well.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Salim offered a 2 year 4 mil. offer with an option.

Why would he accept that after the way he's been treated.

Every year we talk about who we wil go after and there's a lot of talk. But who exactly have we landed the past few years other than JJ?

Speedy

Lo

??????

I don't see this year being any different. We will get whowever is left over and that won't be much.

One, there is NO way Salim is coming back after the way he has been treated. Zero Chance.

Mario is a good defensive player, but what else does he have going for him? If he works on his offense a little, I think he might be brought back.

People expecting us to go after some mid-level talent in the FA period are setting themselves up for disappointment. But eh, hope I'm wrong.

And those who feel J Rich will get decent playing time (I'm not talking about 20 mins a game, so calm down), even with Salim gone, will be disappointed as well. I just dont see Woodson playing the guy. He wouldnt play him in garbage time, and I just dont see him playing him now--even though we do need a shooter off the bench.

has JR been through training camp with us? Seems like we picked him up. I was thinking playing the summer league and going through camp could get him fixed in the rotation. That's what West did, but he played great defense.

If West could get a shot and JR some defense they could help us a lot. Cause we ain't gonna land a whole lot more.

ANYONE HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THESE GUYS?

Top undrafted players

1. Gary Forbes, UMass

Forbes was the star of the Orlando pre-draft camp, scoring 30 points in one game and dominating in all facets of the game on a consistent basis. After his performance in Orlando, he was considered an early second-round prospect with an outside shot of finding a way into the first round. Though he went undrafted, Forbes is a skilled athlete who has a good chance to find his way into the NBA.

2. Davon Jefferson, USC

Based on his elite level athleticism, there's no way Jefferson should go undrafted, so obviously scouts had major question marks surrounding work ethic and mental preparation. If anyone is regretting their decision to bolt for the draft, it’s Jefferson. No one thought he’d be a first-round pick after his uninspired performance in Orlando, but not may saw him going undrafted either. Athletically, Jefferson is ready for the league, but his skills and maturity level are far from ready, and that scared off a lot of teams. He could be hard-pressed to find a spot in the league next fall.

3. DeMarcus Nelson, Duke

Nelson was the best player on an elite team last season. He was a four-year player for one of the nation’s most prestigious programs. He played well in Orlando and tested out exceptionally in the Combine. But nonetheless, Nelson — a freak athlete with one of the most decorated high school careers in California history — failed to hear his name called on draft day. He certainly was one of the best 60 players available and will get every opportunity to make an NBA roster as a free agent this summer.

4. Will Daniels, Rhode Island

At one point, Daniels was projected to go as high as No. 27 on NBADraft.Net’s mock draft. He has the size (6-foot-8, 235 pounds) and athleticism to compete at the next level, but his skills aren’t quite polished enough yet. Odds are he’ll land on an NBA roster, but worst case scenario, Daniels will excel in Europe.

5. Jaycee Carroll, Utah State

Many teams draft “specialists” in the second round (Joey Dorsey, Shan Foster, etc.), but Carroll didn’t get picked despite being the most premier specialist out there. He is a lights-out 3-point shooter who shot 49.8 percent from deep and averaged 22.2 points per game last season for the Aggies. Like Nelson, he’ll get a shot this summer. If he can’t keep up with the athletes in the NBA, Carroll could become a star in Europe.

6. Jamont Gordon, Mississippi State

It’s surprising that Gordon wasn’t drafted considering how versatile and physical he is. Players with the ability to play both the 1 and 2 are a rare commodity, especially when they have tremendous strength and quickness that could provide the foundation to becoming an elite defender. Like most players on this list, Gordon will have every opportunity to get into the league.

7. Bryce Taylor, Oregon

Teammates Malik Hairston and Maarty Luenen unexpectedly heard their names called but Taylor didn’t. Taylor was arguably Oregon’s best player last season, but his 6-foot-4 frame makes him a undersized at the next level. Nonetheless, his scoring ability, length and athleticism give him a chance to make in in the league.

8. Reggie Williams

The nation's back to back scoring champ had a solid Orlando predraft camp displaying an excellent feel for the game to accompany his scoring ability. He's a deceptive athlete and his 6'8 wingspan allows his to play bigger than his height. If he doesn't find a fit with a team in free agency, he's sure to have a huge career in Europe. Williams will play with Dallas in the summer league.
