BusBoyIsBack
Nice for you to be honest about Marvin for once. I doubted his ability to shoot the three myself, but by divine intervention or something he has been damn near automatic. I think he may have more made 3's in these first six games than he even attempted all last year. It blows my mind how someone can make such a leap over one off season. Hopefully it's no fluke and he keeps shooting with confidence. Yeah last year Marvin was 1 for 10 behind the arc. He is only 2 threes away from as many three point makes as he attempted all last season. That has to be off-season hard work and nothing else. And it's so good to see because it stretches the court so much more when he can knock those down. Now obviously no one can make them at the clip he's making them over a course of a season, but the fact that he has shown signs of developing into a legit threat to make the 3 is so promising for this offense. If Marvin can be our Peja Stojakovic and knock them down at a 40%+ clip over a season, that would be amazing Edited November 13, 2008 by BusBoyIsBack

jhay610
I guess Marvin found some time to squeeze some shots in this offseason between all the bon-bons, chocolate trees, summer classes and water gun fights with Sean May. Diesel, way to stand up and offer those kudos where they are much deserved. I never thought I'd see the day... Btw, where the deuce is Walter? Swish
I gotta give Props to Marvin. He has become our three point specialist! I think he has good chemistry with JJ and Mo... When we put Marvin, JJ, Flip, Mo, and Bibby on the floor together, we're a dangerous squad!!! Way to go D...I'm proud of you. Way to gird up the proverbial loins and eat some crow ;) Yeah, who knows what could happen now that Diesel has given Marvin his due.

This man has probably started over 1000 threads to bash Marvin Williams. Argued with probably 10,000 responses to question Marvin's character, work ethic and desire to be a pro-basketball player. He has proposed 1000s of senseless Marvin trades for the most useless bums in the NBA. Yet yet he makes one positive statement about the man and all is forgotten. Sounds like a trap to me because we all know what kind of man diesel is and the minute Marvin has a slump, the Diesel "I hate Marvin Williams" machine will take over this board with the quickness. Premium Member Peoriabird Posted November 14, 2008 Premium Member Report Share Posted November 14, 2008 (edited) You're pretty ridiculous yourself to be honest. Now I understand high5's problem with me and the statements below sum it up. He is a Marvin hater too. High5's prediction on who will be the better 3 point shooter between Smith and Williams I'd prefer it if neither had 125 attempts, but I'd put my money on Smith. You do realize 38% is a good percentage, right? How can you say a guy who only took 10 three-pointers all last season (only 6 or 7 were legitimate attempts) will almost certainly be a decent 3pt shooter this year? He has only made 23% in his career and he can't even finish a fairly easy 3pt drill in practice. Smith has had great games from 3, too. It's hilarious how quick people will jump on any bandwagon. The people acting like Marvin is a proven deep threat even though tonight was his first made three in a year. It's not as simple as just taking 2-3 steps back and finding the stroke. Marvin isn't a particularly strong minded person, he has obvious confidence issues. I can see him having a bad game and not trying another one for a couple of weeks. Nothing about Marvin's game resembles a PF. The inability to shoot 3's isn't a PF trait. And you are calling someone else ridiculous? Don't you feel a little stupid after posting multiple dumb statements like these? Edited November 14, 2008 by Peoriabird
Premium Member Peoriabird Posted November 14, 2008 Premium Member Report Share Posted November 14, 2008 (edited) More of High5's brilliance All Woodson can coach a team to is the lottery. Woodson is the one that has the Hawks switching every chance they get which puts us in a lot of bad situations. Woodson may be a decent assisstant coach, but he has no business being a head coach. What makes you think Woodson is a good defensive coach? Just because they have some stretches of great defense? Every team has great stretches or even great games that go against the usual. The Hawks seem to switch on defense more than any team I watch and this leads to some terrible, unnecessary match ups. The Hawks also have problems adjusting. If a team has some success with a certain play or a certain player, they will milk that for the entire game. Those are two specific things that I'm basing my opinion on, what do you have Eazy? Heh, I guess so. Like I said earlier, he may been a great assistant under Larry, but an assistant and a head coach are two entirely different things. Plus the Pistons were all vets that probably had no use for him. Dude, you got nothing. I could just as easily say the players played bad defense just to spite Woodson. You can't make an argument with something like that. Obviously I don't expect Woodson to lead this team to 50+ wins, but you can't blame the organization for him being completely clueless during a game. You don't have to have a perfect environment with a great team to make good coaching decisions. Edited November 14, 2008 by Peoriabird

Gray Mule
Having read after Diesel for lo these many years, I qulaify as a Diesel supporter. You don't have to agree with EVERYTHING that a poster says to be a supporter. I happen to know that, sometimes Diesel is completely sincere in what he posts and sometimes he has those, "Toungue in cheek" posts where he is trying to rattle some other poster or posters. After a while, you learn to recognize the difference. :angel19:
