Premium Member Diesel Posted January 23, 2009 Premium Member Report Share Posted January 23, 2009 I heard on the radio that reports are that Olympiacos has offered Marbury a spot. I was wondering... Is that Chillz' spot? I think Chillz may have given indication that he's coming back to the NBA after this year. Otherwise, I can't see Olympiacos ponying up the Money needed for Marbury. The only thing is that they play different positions, maybe that's why I doubt it's Chillz spot. However, I do agree with the money issue. Hey, if Chillz comes back to the NBA, that's good for the Hawks, no matter the situation.
Moderators macdaddy Posted January 23, 2009 Moderators Report Share Posted January 23, 2009 Everyone may know this but me, but can Chill come back to the nba this year? Is he out for the season with his injury?
BeeSwatter
From what I read he has a sports hernia which is the same thing Josh Smith had a few seasons ago. I think they might have said 6-8 weeks for Childress. Smith returned in about 3 I believe.
Moderators AHF Posted January 23, 2009 Moderators Report Share Posted January 23, 2009 I would pay to watch Marbury play in Euro league basketball. I can see him pounding the floor with the ball and his teammates wondering, "WTF is this guy doing? I am wide open but he still won't give up the ball..." Swatguy
I would pay to watch Marbury play in Euro league basketball. I can see him pounding the floor with the ball and his teammates wondering, "WTF is this guy doing? I am wide open but he still won't give up the ball..." That is tooooo funny. Euro owners are ruthless and have there own situational ethics. If Chillz looks to be out for a significant time which affects the Olympiacos championship season, I can see them changing course meaning Stephon in, Chillz out. gsuteke
Chillz wouldn't have signed the contract if it weren't guaranteed so there's your answer. He won't be back in the NBA this season. I bet he's back closer to that 8 week mark than the 3 it took Smoove to return. Anyone remember when Smoove came back and went nuts? The LAW - light anti-tanking weapon God I don't miss those days! BigDirty
From Eurobasket: Olympiakos' swingman Josh Childress (203-G/F-83, college: Stanford) had surgery yesterday morning in Philadelphia to repair a tear in his abdomen, although firstly been reported as a hernia, and after that spoke to Lang Whitaker of slamonline.com. 'They had to put stitches inside, and then it's just a matter of waiting for it to heal, Josh Childress said. It started bothering me like a month ago, but after the game against Maccabi on the 8th of January, I could barely walk. It was killing me. Everybody diagnosed it as a hernia, but the specialist I saw in Philadelphia said it was just a tear. Actually, I'm kind of unclear, because the team doctor said he thought it was a hernia, and he was here at the surgery as well'. Josh Childress had the surgery in the U.S. because he had a clause in his contract that allowed him to come to the U.S. and see a doctor if he suffered any serious injury. He went to a specialist in Philadelphia the same guy who treated Shaquille O'Neal's strained abdominal muscle. While initial reports projected that Josh Childress would miss between 6-8 weeks, Josh and his medical team think the time frame could be shorter: 'The doctor said he thinks we can push the envelope on the recovery and I could be back in 3-4 weeks. He actually wants me to walk a mile tomorrow to start trying to get better' the American player said. Instead of returning to Athens immediately, Josh Childress will head to his home in California to rehabilitate. 'Olympiakos was great about it; I expected them to be like, hurry back. But the owner of the team told me that they want to make sure I would be taken care of and do whatever is best for me. It didn't matter them where I do the rehab as long as I get better. As they told me they have me for another two years, and they want to make sure I am happy. So that was pretty cool' Josh Childress stated. Now, the Reds are searching for a substitute for their big star, either for the interval that Josh Childress will be out of the fields or for even more; names like Bracey Wright (191-G-84, college: Indiana) and DeJuan Collins (188-G-76, college: Tuskegee) are heard to have been proposed to the Reds, having already a past experience in Greece. What impresses, though, more is the possibility of Stephon Marbury (187-G-77, college: Georgia Tech), whose name is at the front page of all the Greek sites this morning. Could Aggelopoulos Bros make a big transfer for one more time? My conclusion: - Chillz will stay in Greece - Marbury is just the usual hype that happens whenever Panathinaikos or Olympiacos want to sign a new player - Olympiacos will sign an american player with Euroleague experience
gsuteke
My conclusion: Chillz is happier than a pip in poop he's out of there and back in the States - i.e. choosing to rehab away from the team - hell away for the Country for christ's sake! If Joe Johnson got hurt would he go to Arkansas to rehab? Seriously. Think about it.
BigDirty
Sorry, but it is a very common practice in Europe that foreigners go to rehab in their home country or another city.
AtomicHawk
From Eurobasket: My conclusion: - Chillz will stay in Greece - Marbury is just the usual hype that happens whenever Panathinaikos or Olympiacos want to sign a new player - Olympiacos will sign an american player with Euroleague experience I agree with point two and three, but I heard an interview with Chillz (halftime of the Celtics/ESPN game) in December, and my feeling is that he is not happy there. He indicated that the fans are crazy, and if Olympiacos loses a game the fans go nuts! He said the fans are too emotional and that they take it out on the players. He made it sound like it wasn't even safe to go outside after a loss. Who would want to live in a foreign country where you don't even feel safe? Even if you make $millions$?? Hell, he will make a sweet living in Atlanta, too, and at least feel safe. He's coming back!
