Remember when Dwight Howard vowed to lead the league in blocks and rebounds?

Well so far he's averaging 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game which is more than 1 block more per game this year than last year. Anyone have any thoughts on how he's gotten so much better at it this year? Was he just sand bagging before or what? I can't imagine that he's that type of player but I can't explain it.

I think it might be a matter of experience. With that experience he is staying out of foul trouble and maybe being on the floor more? I don't know maybe he is challenging more shots instead of just getting a hand up.

I think he's just getting a lot better and understanding the game. Howard strikes me as a good kid, so I doubt he was sandbagging.

Do you guys really think he's gotten that much better and more experienced in one off-season to go up 1 block per game? I really doubt he was sandbagging too but it's just remarkable that he's been able to do this in one off-season.

I think playing on the Olympic team probably helped a lot.

Also, I'd say that he might have not been as focused before. That doesn't mean he was purposely sandbagging, he might just not have known he wasn't doing everything he could.

I mean, I wouldn't' say Smith sandbags, but he could definitely be a lot better if he kept his head in the game more often.
