HawkItus
I have a couple of rules for this. 1. You had to have seen them play. 2. They had to have suited up in Atlanta 3. Had to play at least 1 full season 4. What they did after leaving or before coming to Atlanta doesn't count. i.e. Mo Cheeks, Moses Malone. So who are the best Hawks ever. My top 5 list is like this.... 1. Nique 2. Mutomobo 3. Joe Johnson 4. Steve Smith 5. Mookie Blaylock

Mookie Blaylock One Lou Hudson, he was good though. 6 time all-star in the ATL, made the All-NBA 2nd team once while here. Top 5 ppg 3 times. Went to the playoffs a few times and scored a bunch there. He probably rates up there after Nique, but I'd need some perspective from an old-timer as to how highly regarded Sweet Lou was around the league. Of the guys I've seen: Nique Joe Deke Smitty Smith Edited January 26, 2009 by crimedog

Mookie That said, I was just a kid when Drew and Roundfield played but I did see them play and I could make a case for either of them to be in the top 5. On talent alone, I'd put Drew over Mookie all day but Mookie had that heart. As for Smoove, I think he will be in there one day, just not yet. Honorable mention to Willis too. Moderators AHF Posted January 27, 2009 Moderators Report Share Posted January 27, 2009 I agree we have to add Pistol and Moses. I didn't watch Pistol play for the Hawks so he doesn't make my list. Moses Malone doesn't make my top 8 with the way he played for the Hawks. My last people were Kevin Willis, Mookie Blalock, Doc Rivers and Josh Smith. I don't think Moses was better than any of them during his time for the Hawks.
Premium Member Diesel Posted January 27, 2009 Premium Member Report Share Posted January 27, 2009 I would have to say: Nique Deke JJ Smitty Mookie With honorable mentions to Shareef.
HawkItus
yeah I added the stipulation of having seen and based on their time with the hawks to keep the list simple. If you go off of who was a Hawk at some point then you can get guys like Dr. J and Rasheed Wallace etc. I want to know who has preformed the best for Atlanta. I surprised nobody threw Antoine Carr or Christian Laetner etc. Some guys for whatever reason had career years with the Hawks.

SAR has easily contributed so much more then Walker. Smith too. Even Harrington to a lesser extent. Walker was a scorer and a rebounder but he did not play a lick of D and he shot for a horrible fg%. He was a chucker out there. Walker lasted a half season with us.
