My guess is that the Woodster went off about all the layups and dunks....it was pretty bad. Wooody (the dumb-a$$ he is) probably made an example out of Smoove. Problem is - Smoove was the only guy playing defense in the first half.

So Smoove likely said something like S(uck) M(y) D(ick) you idiot (or words to that effect)...of course Woody wouldn't want to actually fight Smoove (major arse kickin would be in store for him if he did that)....so he benched him.

with exception from al and maybe marvin everybody else been playing without heart? didnt we win 5 in a row when marvin and joe got in a fight? this may be a good thing.

Things have to be pretty bad internally if you are the fourth place team, fighting for the home court and 2 teams within in a game, and you can't play with heart. This sounds like a bad 10th place team trying to figure out how to deal with the pressure of possibly not making the playoffs.
