jerrywest
Bibby and Marvin had one game in the 30s. Is there a stat that shows which player had the ball for how many minutes? Its time to call him "Joe the pounder". Edited March 8, 2009 by jerrywest

HalfHawk
But Joe scored 41 against the Bulls this season didn't he? As far as I see a 40 pt game is more impressive than a 30 pt game....

They're talking about the year 2009 and the Bulls game you're talking about was played in December of 2008.
Plainview1981
Hey we are still winning in 09 with him............oh wait. Winning? Did you see the games against NY or Charlotte? This team can't even beat NY now. It's amazing at how many shots Joe takes and almost never hits 30 points. Is there anyone else on the team you want shooting that much when there is no offense in place? It starts with Woody, he has no clue or what he wants to do as far as a scheme offensively. Put an offense in, Joe's shots go down.
BusBoyIsBack
We don't NEED anyone to score 30 to win these days. We are getting to the point where every player in our lineup is a threat to have a 20 point night when you consider the development of Al Horford who seems to be scoring more and more offensively these days. If Horford continues to look this good offensively, we don't need a guy who's scoring 28-30 points a night. We could have distributed scoring. Offense sells tickets, it's about the defense anyway. When this team plays defense that's when we they are playing their best basketball Edited March 8, 2009 by BusBoyIsBack
Gray Mule
 I, too, wonder. When is it going to happen? Where is the "breakout game" coming? JJ is our one all star, yet he's not scoring a lot. Last night's victory is a good example. Sure, he had a lot of assists and rebounds. Sure, he was having to exert a lot of energy on the defensive end of the floor. Add to that the fact he was used up, spent, by game's end. With all that, his offensive numbers just arent there. Take a look. Overall, JJ went 4-12 from the floor with 1-5 from beyond the arc. He was 3-4 from the free throw line. That's 12 points for the night. Those are not all star numbers. But, for JJ they seem to be what he's been able to put up recently. Two reasons come to mind and I suppose they are both logical conclusions. 1- All opponents try to stop / shut down JJ. Force all the other Hawk players to be the reason that the Hawks win. 2- Overused / tired / all of his energy used up. If both of these reasons are true, shooting 33% from the floor and 20% from the 3 point arch will not produce any 30 point games. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- :offtopic2: At least for one night, Josh Smith played a great game against our lateat opponent. Perhaps sitting out the 2nd half of tthe previous game served as a wake up call for JS. If that is what happened, it worked! Note: If Atlanta is expected to only win 37 games this season, we're almost there! I believe last night's game was #35.
BusBoyIsBack
But who cares if Joe is off if we are still winning? AL HOrford is averaging over 17 points per game in his last 7 games and people are finding something to complain about. They should be more concerned with Al's development because if he continues to play like this, this team is going to be REALLY good. This team has come a long way from when we were so dependent on Joe Johnson that if he sat out a couple of minutes we completely collapsed and when he had off nights we had no chance. You would think people would be happy we've developed to the point where we can win a game even though Joe Johnson goes 4-12. But of course not. Hawks fans always have to complain about something right? Edited March 8, 2009 by BusBoyIsBack
