Hawks True Shooting percentages

A few things stand out. First of all Flip's percentage is very high relative to his shot selection. He isn't bashful and puts up a lot of tough shots. This is the best he has shot in his career by far.

Smith obviously takes too many shots. His foul shooting hurts him too. JJ also has been guilty of putting up too many forced shots.

Predictably Marvin has the best TS of the non-centers because he is hitting 3s, finishing better inside and gets to the ft line.

It is definitely a shock to see Zaza at the top of the list. he still can't hit a jumper for crap but i guess he has been finishing better inside. Plus he gets to the line.

I have noticed that announcers for our opponents, for the most part, give

Zaza a lot more respect, praise, than he gets from our own announcers

and from us who post here on Hawksquawk.

Personally, I like him. He does occasionally hit that shot from around the

free throw line. Seldom does he try from much further out. Sometimes, with

a running start, he will dunk, but otherwise, he can't get up that high.

He is relentless around the glass. He seldom blocks a shot, but might on

occasion, get one.

Zaza will not be intimidated. He is hard to push around, once he is set.

He takes his defense outside where, if you're not carefus, he will steal

the ball. For someone as slow as he appears to be, he has quick hands.

He has learned his "Bull in a china shop" approach to defense to the point

that he doesn't foul a lot. But, he draws fouls inside and hits a nice % of

his free throws.

At what he costs, he is a real bargain when compared to other big men in the NBA.

We would be hard pressed to replace Za for the money he gets. There are a lot of bigs in the league that make more than him and do not produce. I have to remind myself he is still a young guy.

I always thought that Zaza is the center version of T-Lue, but this is his contract yea and he's been an asset more than a liability this season. The thing that bugs me about him is his defensive rebounding and FG percentage... he's got one of those fixed this season.

His defensive reb#'s (per min) have increased every season with the Hawks. Kudos to Zaza for that.

One strength of his that rarely gets mentioned is his ability to stay healthy. For a big man, that's a major plus.

Zaza has a lot to offer off the bench. He's tough, he's aggressive, and when he gets to the line, he hits his FTs. He can handle the ball pretty well,and he really hustles. He takes his role and accepts it like a pro. I love how he has grown into this team.

In his last championship year with the Bulls, MJ's TS% was 53.3%

His career high was 61.4%... the Year the Bulls finished 5th in the Central and lost to the Pistons in the finals.

How do you finish 5th in your division and almost get to the finals?

They finished 5th and were a 6th seed in the playoffs.
