buckeye242424
With the Hawks up four games over Miami and Philly for the fourth spot, with 7 to play, does Woody rest some players down the stretch? I ask the question because if I were in Woody's shoes, I wouldn't be sure. On one hand, you have someone like JJ that leads the league in minutes. Some games down the stretch will be meaningless as far as positioning, do you give the guy a break (as well as others)? Or, with the poor performance against Philly, as a coach, do you continue to play the starters big minutes in order to try and improve and go into the playoffs as sharp as can be? Thoughts? DrReality
JJ needs some rests but I'd be surprised if he gets a lot. The others I would play in regular rotation . . . . that is if there is one.
crimedog
I would limit Joe and Bibby's minutes. Additionally I'd try to get Josh and Al really comfortable and run the offense through them the last few games. I think Joe would benefit by just taking open shots and I think Al and Josh would benefit by getting into a groove before the offseason.
Gray Mule
Have a plan. Work the plan. Simple as that. Woody has a plan. Give rest to the weary. Problem is, when the players hit the floor and the battle is on, he forgets all about the plan and goes with what he's been doing. Playing big minutes to his already tired starters and his couple of subs, Flip and Zaza. Woody has proven by his actions, he doesn't trust the outcome of any game to anyone except his top seven. any one else in the game, get them out. They messed up and their night is over. If you know that, as soon as you make a mistake, your night is over, chances are you are not going to make any big plays or take any chances. Celtics by 10+ and then there's six games remaining. This means things are going to be tight as we fight for #4. Can't afford to rest any one. To heck with the play. Gota run those top seven into the ground or we're doomed. :no-no:
Gray Mule
:thumbsdownsmileyanim: Don't you just hate it when someone says, "I told you so" and they're right. Celtics 10+ over our beloved Hawks. Hawks are so messed up, mentally, when they are on the road. They are beat when they step on the floor. Add to that the fact that the Celtics want to show the NBA world that the Hawks winning three against them in the playoffs was a freak and shouldn't even be considered this season. They have proven their point. Dare we say we miss Josh Childress from last season? Should we even consider we really need a healthy Marvin Williams right now? What did MW's replacement do last night? How many points was that? Our three guards did what? Missed HOW MANY shots? Sure, Flip had some points, but when did they come? Garbage time, when the outcome was no longer in doubt. Pitiful. :cant believe:
