exodus
Then what is the argument then? What is the reason for bringing up our opponents injuries? What conclusion are you trying to reach by saying "......but player x was injured"? You say "strawman" I say "well where the hell else will this road lead?" It means it is easier to beat a team that is missing key players, just like it would be easier for another team to beat the Hawks if the Hawks were missing one or more of their top 7 players. Injuries have to be looked at equally which definitely hasn't happened here. Hawks fans like to make a big deal about Hawks injuries and won't hesitate to use them as an excuse. It happens constantly. Injuries start to even out as time goes by. So far this year the injury issue has been heavily in the Hawks favor. If Josh was gone most of last season and won't be back for yet another year if not forever....yea I'd say it's time to move on with my team or find someone to fill in for if not replace him. I'm not going to play 164+ games with the caveat "what if this player was here?" Might as well not even lace up your sneakers then with that nonsense. It is not that simple. Smith's salary would still count against the cap even if he can't play. it isn't like the Hawks could spend $10 million on a replacement for Smith. Yes, both wins and loses are tainted (my word, not yours) when it comes to injuries but come on Ex it doesn't matter how many times you hit that nail on the head its still not going to sink in with certain people. Fact is the NBA is not a perfect league and no loss or win is perfect, you take them however you can get them that's why we dress 12 on every night to hopefully prepare for that outcome. I'm watching the fully stocked Raptors taking on the Duncan and Parker less Spurs here and they sure as hell are not finding anything easy. Yes the contract remains on the cap but you can A) Promote a swingman from within B) Draft a replacement/back up that's much cheaper C) Sign a FA D) Apply for an injury exception as the Rockets did to sign Ariza or E) all of the above. A) nobody on the team could replace what Smith brings. B) The draft isn't a sure thing (see BK's draft record) C) Such as? D) That would only work if it was a sure thing Smith would be out for the year.

exodus
Jameer Nelson To Undergo Arthroscopic Knee Surgery Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson will undergo arthroscopic surgery Wednesday morning to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. Nelson was injured in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game vs. Charlotte and underwent an MRI Tuesday morning. It is estimated that Nelson will be out four-to-six weeks following the procedure. Nelson had started all 11 games for the Magic, averaging 13.7 ppg. and a team-high 5.5 apg. The Magic (8-3) return to action Wednesday night by hosting Oklahoma City at Amway Arena (tip-off 7 p.m.) For more information visit orlandomagic.com. The Magic have really been snakebit. Every starter except Howard has been hurt in addition to Anderson and Bass.
