Plainview1981
It wasn't just Big Ben for Detroit, it was also those hustle rebounds by that swedish dude Jerebko and Maxielle. They just hustled harder than us and we made them look like a bunch of Rodmans. You're right though.... Our guys are plain lazy on the rebound. I don't know why. Because they don't have the work ethic and the will to win night in and night out.
Buzzard
You guys do realize much of our switching is due to covering up how horribly slow Bibby has gotten on defense I trust. We switch or zone thanks to Bibby and we have to extend our bigs far too often to try and cover for him. If Bibby could actually defend the ball and his man we could play straight up man to man and our defense would be better. We also have one of the best, if not the best, help defender in the league along with an improving Horf. Its not like Bibby is the only bad defensive PG on a good team; but we are the biggest user of switching in the league.

It was always Woody and BK's plan that we would have this team of players who were same build that would give us a defensive advantage because they could switch. Long, versatile, and athletic was BK's mantra and that mantra is one that spotlights defense... not offense.

I cannot recall Woody ever calling for anything other than a switching defense since his 1st season here. We didn't switch as much until Bibby got here and the playoffs against Boston exposed him so badly against quick guards. Now all we do is switch or zone when Bibby is on the court. We would at least play some man on man with no switches until the last seconds on the clock before we got Bibby.
Premium Member Atlantaholic Posted December 2, 2009 Premium Member Report Share Posted December 2, 2009 Well in all fairness the years before Bibby got here we didn't even play defense. I remember zoning up a lot more those years also... And I mostly remember the opposing teams having open shots all game.
