buckeye242424
Interesting article. Despite our empty seats at the beginning of games....we're the league high increase. http://ken-berger.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/11838893/18850386?source=rss_blogs_NBA The Atlanta Hawks (15-6), long challenged in the attendance department but off to their best start in a decade, have seen a league-high 26.8 percent increase in net gate receipts – to $468,036 per game, up from $369,157 at this point last season. Atlanta is selling an average of 10,573 tickets per game, up from 7,900 at this point last season. The other top gainers in net gate receipts are the Denver Nuggets (up 20.3 percent), Orlando Magic (up 17.7 percent), Portland Trail Blazers (up 12.3 percent), and Cleveland Cavaliers (up 11.8 percent). AUhawksfan
Glad to see a more accurate figure about attendance. We're improving and it doesn't look we've been hit as hard by the economy as some suggest. We're definitely not giving away tickets as easily as we have been in the past. Duff_Man
Good to hear. Now if we could get people to arrive on time for any Atlanta sporting event...
TheNorthCydeRises
I bet that's a direct result of the Hawks not giving away so many tickets anymore ( especially the upper level tickets ). They gave away an average of 5500 tickets a game last year. Philips Arena looks as empty as ever, but the gate revenue is up? Yeah, it's either that, or they're selling more premium seats. Antmillennium
Good to hear. Now if we could get people to arrive on time for any Atlanta sporting event... Honestly, I think we need to stop having games that start at 7:00 during the week. It's just too hard to get to the game at that time.
gsuteke
The Hawks were one of 12 teams to lose money last year according to an espn report. be careful where you tread. The Magic also lost money FWIW
FrankWhite
Good to hear. Now if we could get people to arrive on time for any Atlanta sporting event... That'll never happen.
Moderators macdaddy Posted December 11, 2009 Moderators Report Share Posted December 11, 2009 How is it the Lakers aren't in the top 5? I agree. 7:30 start time is much better.
