uga2006
Our low post defense wouldn't even exist without Josh. Al is a good rebounder but people still drive on him all the time. It's noticeable every game when Josh is getting a breather cause the other teams constantly take it to the hole with success. It's been this way for four years. It would be great to have a big like Birdman instead of Zaza but we know that won't happen.
swolehawk2
In fact forget career how about single season? http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/tiny.cgi?id=hIfAc Players to average in single season (at least 75 games) 15 PPG 8 RPG 4 APG 1.5 SPG 2.0 BPG Kareem (1975-76) David Robinson (1993-94) Julius Erving (1973-74) (ABA) Kevin Garnett (2003-04) WOW. Josh SMith You should post this on every baskeball board in the land. Josh does not get enough credit for how he plays the game. Years back, the media wanted to give AK47 is own country for playing like this.

SmooveTheFuture
Impressive but smith has the potential to be alot better if he could just hit his free throws more he should bring up that avg to 18-19 points and theres no reason he shouldnt avg an ez 10 rebounds a game once he starts doing double doubles every night look out. He almost there but I think he can take his game even higher.
TheNorthCydeRises
It is an impressive feat by Smoove. The only problem though, with comparing him with those great players, is that those other players had much more impressive numbers that went over 15 - 8 and 4. Nonetheless, what Smoove has done so far this year is impressive. Lamar Odom has done it twice in his career. 03 - 04: 17.1 ppg 9.7 rebs 4.1 asst 06 - 07: 15.9 ppg 9.7 rebs 4.8 asst And he got very close to doing it 4 other times in his career. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stats?playerId=617 Edited February 25, 2010 by northcyde

Well the 15, 8, and 4 isn't what's so rare. It's the 2 blocks and 1.5 steals on top of that. Anyone who thinks that's easy is fooling themselves. There's a reason why it's only been done 2 times in the history of steals and blocks being recorded Edited February 25, 2010 by BusBoyIsBack
Premium Member Atlantaholic Posted February 25, 2010 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 25, 2010 If Lamar had that drive that the great ones have, he would have been a perennial All Star throughout his career. Lamar and Smoove have a similar skill set though I would say Lamar is a more skilled player and Josh a more athletic one.
Premium Member mrhonline Posted February 25, 2010 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 25, 2010 Josh Smith is 75% Kirilenko, 15% Odom, and 10% Webber.
BusBoyIsBack
Josh Smith is 75% Kirilenko, 15% Odom, and 10% Webber. Pretty good comparison. Except I'd throw in a Lebron in there as well in terms of athleticism. Because Josh Smith is by far more athletic than all 3 of those guys
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted February 26, 2010 Moderators Report Share Posted February 26, 2010 Somebody posted it on Realgm General Board, and everybody is acting like it's an easy thing to do. People want to poo-poo the facts, as if anyone can just sit in their mama's basement all day and triangulate a couple of interesting stats. And yes, anyone can. But put together not two, not three, not four, but FIVE such desirable individual stats (PTS, REBS, ASTS, STLS, BLKS), and when the list is down to ex-MVPs and Hall of Famers it IS impressive company to be in. Made all the more impressive when a player is NOT the primary offensive superstar of his team. If "Superman's" nickname can be "stolen," surely an argument can be made for "The Matrix" (Reloaded?) ~lw3
Moderators AHF Posted February 26, 2010 Moderators Report Share Posted February 26, 2010 If "Superman's" nickname can be "stolen," surely an argument can be made for "The Matrix" (Reloaded?) ~lw3 I disagree but mostly because Smoove already has his nickname - there is no need for him to go out and rip off Marion! The problem is that Smoove is not really a fitting nickname. There's a guy on the AJC blog ("doc") who advocates using "J-Smash" instead of "J-Smoove." Josh's game is awe-inspiring because of his explosiveness and power, not because of his smoothness. I think "Matrix Reloaded" is appropriately (and funny) too. But as you said, I think the ship has sailed... Edited February 26, 2010 by niremetal
