Blunt91
On one play the ball was swung to Teague at the top of the key and instead of him looking to shoot the ball he's is looking around for somene to pass it to. It is like he has been told to look to pass first before you shoot. I tell you he reminds me of Jason Terry his rookie year. As we all know Terry look "so so" his rookie year . Then the following season they put him at 2 guard and the rest is history. Maybe that is it, maybe Teague is just not comfortable @ playing the point and needs to be at the 2 on the offensive end. TheTruth
Have you seen his jumper? Have you seen how bad his FG% has been with it? He's not confident enough to take it anymore. That will only get better when he starts to knock them down with greater efficiency. Edited April 13, 2010 by TheTruth

DJlaysitup
I think Woody is dealing fair with Teague. He hasn't given up on him and is giving him some minutes...he sees potential. That said, Woody isn't going to have Teague practicing his woeful jumper in games that we need to win. The percentages just aren't there. We aren't hurting for shooters. Obviously this puts Teague at a disadvantage, but it is what it is...if the guy could shoot better Woody would let him shoot.
GameTime
Why wouldn't Acie take the open shot?
DJlaysitup
Why wouldn't Acie take the open shot? This is just a guess...so for what it's worth...I think there was more going on between Woody and Acie that we fans ever learned about. My guess is that Acie came in as a rookie who was used to ruling the roost (at A&M) and Woody has never seemed to be a rookie fan. Let's remember that the problems between Smoove and Woody seem to have gone away for the most part since Acie was traded. Maybe a coincidence? TheNorthCydeRises
Why doesn't Teague take the open shot? shooting from 16 - 23 ft: 33% . . . FG ( 14 - 42 FG ) Why wouldn't Acie take the open shot? shooting from 16 - 23 ft 2008: 67% FG . . . but only ( 4 - 6 FG ) 2009: 23% FG . . .( 9 - 40 FG )
TheNorthCydeRises
And that 33% FG for Teague is actually UP from where he had been shooting . . . in the mid 20% FG range.

We are not asking him to hoist jumpers like Joe & Jamal, but if you are wide open you should take the shot in most cases. If he is working on his jumpshot with Mark Price then looks like he should be able to nail the "open" shot with more accuracy(sp)than what he is displaying. spotatl
Why don't more players routinely shoot from halfcourt when they are wide open? Because they don't think they will make the shot.

Blunt91
Does that same logic apply to Smoove? :snowballfight: You would think that a person who plays guard, and shot a high percentage in college, would have better jumpshot than a powerfoward who was never known for his shooting abilites. uga2006
Have you seen Teague's form on his shot? Unless he's open by 2-3 feet he could never get it off. Our scouts (or lack there of) suck!
HawkWeisErrr
Because he normally misses?
Gray Mule
:conversation: It's mental. If he could hit his shots in college, the goal is the same here, as is the ball. Also, if he couldn't make his shots, how could he sink all those free throws? He has a very good % from the line. Not much of a huge difference in the distance we're talking about,, is there? We must conclude, therefore, that it's mental. If you believe you are going to miss a shot before you even turn it loose, you will not sink a big % of the shots. :cant believe:
