NJHAWK
Not that he ever left but most reports said he would test free agency.
gsuteke
Cool. I don't want to see Mo playing big minutes but I'm happy he's on the team. Edited June 9, 2010 by gsuteke
NJHAWK
Well if Chills wants back in the NBA then it sets up one of the 3 ( Marv/Chills/Mo) as good trade bait.
GameTime
Mo makes a great 12th man.
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted June 9, 2010 Moderators Report Share Posted June 9, 2010 No Mo! No Mo! lol Actually, the right decision for Mo, although the Hawks sure could've used any money they could get for an upgrade. He wasn't getting $3 million or more from a team anywhere in North America, so he might as well stick around. ~lw3

Yep, either Marvin gets traded, Childress gets signed-and-traded, or Mo gets used in a multi-player deal. On the latter, anybody know how soon, after formally picking up his player option, can Mo be used in a trade? ~lw3
WraithSentinel
:temperature::shake_puter: I hope we move Mo at some point this offseason.
JTB
well im glad mo is back and all but i hope it doesnt have any effect on the hawks bringing back chillz!!!
tremor
I don't understand the hate. Mo used to be a scorer, never was a defensive specialist but he tries hard to do what he asks for. He'll turn 33 this fall, it's not surprise he's not quick on his feet but still moves well without the ball we just need better offensive schemes to utilize him. Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted June 9, 2010 Moderators Report Share Posted June 9, 2010 Mo Evans is doo doo, hope this doesn't affect bringing Chillz back.. Mo opting in does complicate things a bit for Childress. If we want Chillz to return here to ATL, you don't draft a SF and risk over-saturation at the 3-spot (Marvin/Chillz/Rookie/Mo,+Joe/Jamal) unless we somehow accept Mo as a 3rd SG. Yet it seems to me that SF has the most options where the Hawks are currently picking at #24. If they do select a SF, Chillz may be best used, with his cooperation, in a sign-and-trade that nets the team some help at PG or C. Any ideas where Chilldress might accept a trade (Lakers? Warriors?) ~lw3
NJHAWK
Mo is a solid bench player. He has some great nights, he has some bad nights but most of the time he gives you a steady player off the bench. He is an nba calibur player, we need as many of those as we can find. Premium Member mrhonline Posted June 9, 2010 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 9, 2010 This is a win-win for the Hawks. They were over the cap regardless, and now they have a solid veteran on an expiring contract should they need to make a move.

Exactly.........Mo's expiring contract and ability to still play are exactly what teams want as a "throw in" to complete trades.
spotatl
I never really understood why the rumors were that he was going to opt out and hit FA- I couldn't see who would pay him more than 2.5 million. I agree that this probably gives the hawks more flexibility this offseason.
frankthetank966
This is really really good news. Evans was not utilized properly under Woody's tenure and is a solid shooter and defender. I am happy he is back with the team. He has a solid contract.
RedDawg#8
I agree, his game is not built for an ISO system, He has a hutslte and tenacity about him and I know he was frustrated having to sit on the bench alot of the game and watch other players half *ss it on the court. You dont have to be an all star coming of the bench to be effective, just be active and hustle, look at Glenn Davis, Reddick, Dragic, etc. I think ppl have been fooled by the Woody mindset, that if a player isnt a proven vet, with iso skills, they cant be trusted on the court. A real coach gets the most out of a player like Evans.
