Salmons would be a good pickup as is Miller. Haslem would be an excellent big man bench addition but he is going back to Miami. I hate Nate Robinson and I hope we don't waste money on this extremely undersized shooting guard. Livingston had a career resurrection in Washington and would be a nice pickup. I hope we resign Childress or at least get something for him in trade.

KB21
I see Sund bringing back Petro to "answer" our big issues. He can be that "veteran developmental" guy we need. The Hawks so called big issues are overblown by the media and the fans a like, as the numbers simply do not support the idea that Al is a poor starting center or that Zaza is a poor back up center. The Hawks are fine with what they have right now, and if anything, they need someone they can develop behind those guys. The Hawks don't need a seven footer just because he is seven foot. As has already been said, the average height of an NBA center today is 6'10", and Al Horford just happens to be 6'10". He's about an inch below the average wingspan for a center, and while he is not a shot blocker, he more than holds his own defensively.

KB even if you are correct (Which Al said we need a C and Zaza was bad last year). That makes us selling the 31st pick (3-4 project bigs available) for donuts even worse. KB21
KB even if you are correct (Which Al said we need a C and Zaza was bad last year). That makes us selling the 31st pick (3-4 project bigs available) for donuts even worse. I agree with you relative to the premise that selling the 31st pick was bad. That move alone kept a good draft from potentially becoming a great draft for the Hawks. I'm not big on Hassan Whiteside because of his baggage, but had Atlanta drafted him at 31 and brought him to camp, even if he's nothing more than the 12th or 13th man on the roster this year, the Hawks draft would have been considered a great draft. They would have gotten the player they wanted all along in Jordan Crawford and taken that project big man that everyone else thinks they need. I personaly felt it would have been great had they drafted Whiteside, Varnado, or even Terrico White. It is all about getting a player that can help the team, whether they help the team now or down the road. Also, I disagree that Zaza was bad last year. Offensively, he had a down year. His shooting was down. His useage rate was down. However, Zaza was good enough that when he and Al Horford were on the floor together, the Hawks defensive efficiency was 96.9, and over the past two years, their defensive efficiency is 99.4 when Zaza and Al are on the floor together. So, Zaza is good enough to play and allow Al to play some power forward at times. Zaza's defensive play does diminish when he's on the floor with Josh Smith for whatever reason though, so you could make a case for having a third center in the rotation based on that. Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted June 26, 2010 Moderators Report Share Posted June 26, 2010 I suppose we can add Ryan Gomes to the mix? http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2010/06/blazers_plan_to_release_ryan_g.html Team president Larry Miller said the Blazers will probably release newly acquired forward Ryan Gomes in order to avoid taking on the remaining three seasons of his contract. The team has until Tuesday to make a decision, but Miller said he has already told Gomes' agent not to fly him to Portland. Gomes was acquired from Minnesota during Thursday's draft for the draft rights to the 16th overall pick, Luke Babbitt, and Blazers forward Martell Webster. ~lw3

Alex
I would really love Shannon Brown on this team, but I don't think he will leave Los Angeles. He wouldn't be that sexy pickup, but he would be solid off the bench.

Can you say Terrico White or Armon Johnson at 31? I hate we did not take White even more so when I saw who did take him. Dumars has a knack for finding good guards with bad picks; if he could do the same with Bigs, Detroit would still be a contender...
