LastDon
Rick Sund made a statement a few weeks ago stating that one of the reasons we traded the 31st pick was because the center that we were interested in was off the board. Well Mr. Sund your center DANIEL ORTON put up duplicate numbers to those that he averaged at Kentucky which was a minial total of 3 points and one board. It will be interesting to see what guys like Hassan Whiteside, Jerome Jordan, and Solomon Alabi, Dexter Pitman are able to do in their summer league stints. Those 3 players had a far more impressive college body of work than DANIEL ORTON!!!! WE BLEW IT BIG TIME WHEN WE TRADED THE FIRST PICK IN THE DEEPEST DRAFT IN TEN YEARS.. ALSO IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT DAMION JAMES WAS IN ABSOLUTE BEAST MODE AVERAGING 18 AND 7 SHOWING HUSTLE AND PLAYING GOOD AND MAXIMIZING HIS SIZE AND VERSALITY. COULD HAVE REALLY USED ANOTHER BIG 3/4 SINCE WE WILL BE FACING LEBRON JAMES 6 TIMES A YEAR!!! JORDAN CRAWFORD MIGHT NOT EVEN BE BETTER THAN HIS BROTHER JOE!!! OUR GM SUCKS!!!! BudBall
Yea I'm starting to wish we kept James. Jordan Crawford just has to many gaurds ahead of him. James has been pretty beasty in summer league he couldve easily replaced Marvin.
pimp
it's summer league. Summer league stat don't mean anything.Just ask former summer MVP Dion Glover.
LastDon
it's summer league. Summer league stat don't mean anything.Just ask former summer MVP Dion Glover. Everytime summer league is mentioned people around here bring up Dion Glover. There are far more players that have translated into productive pros after being productive in the summer league. Name some guys that had no summer league productivity and became productive??? I bet that ratio is even lower, And Glover wasn't a horrible player and actually played pretty well for the minutes he received during that Atlanta Hawks basketball era. After the home team dump him he was never given another opportunity.. Glover was solid and actually had some big games when given minutes when the hawks would tank. Damian James forces way too much and his FT shooting was absolutely horrid from what I've seen. I'd much rather have Jordan Crawford that has that natural knack for making big plays and scoring. Moderators AHF Posted July 11, 2010 Moderators Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 Great summer stats mean very little. Terrible summer stats mean more - especially for a guard.
Admin capstone21 Posted July 11, 2010 Admin Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 Deepest draft? I will say it is probably one of the worst drafts in ten years.

Well Joe Crawford straight up balled at the Orlando Summer League. So hopefully Jordan will have some of his game. As for Orton, he definitely sucked. He shot 15% FG. . . as a Center. I mean, how do you even do that? He had more fouls than points. Incredible. But this is NOT a deep draft. Those big guys that went in the 2nd round are just about all going to suck. LOL . .they may not suck as bad as Orton, but make sure you look at some of their stats this time next week.
TheNorthCydeRises
I think summer league definitely means something . .. if you suck in it. Good players aren't supposed to suck in Summer League. At the very least, they supposed to look like they belong in the leauge, but just need some fine tuning to their game. DrReality
summer league is like street ball and some guys can translate their game and some can't. Bigs usually not.
