Very disturbing stat

Discovered something disturbing in my stat digging this morning.

The hawks have played 31 games thus far.

They are 19 and 12.

they have played 18 games against team who are not currently in the playoffs. 13 against teams that are.

That means they've played a soft schedule and it's going to get harder.

By contrast San Antonio has played 28 games, won 25.

They've played 14 playoff teams, 14 non playoff teams.

Not only has San Antonio won more but they've played a harder schedule.

Boston has played 16 playoff teams only 11 non playoff teams. A much harder schedule. and of course they are better.

This does not bode well for the Hawks. I know we've played with injuries and played more games (fatigue) but these numbers suggest we are really barely better than a .500 club.

Fatigue may have something to do with it. We've played more games that anyone else in the league right now, 31. A few have played 30. most have played 28 or 29. Sacremento has played only 26.

I know there were a lot of back to backs but didn't realize we were that far ahead. That may help with rest come playoff time.

I'm glad we have had a soft schedule. We've been injured and we've needed time to learn the ins and outs of a new system. Being uncompetitive early due to those factors would have destroyed our season.

Last year's numbers were a little bloated too as we were the healthiest team in the NBA.

We won against the new Magic this week.

Tonight: Magic 123 --- Spurs 101.

4th loss for the season against the giant. Spurs, who are a fast break waiting to happen,

had 2 fast break points tonight. Also, they are the 3 point champs of the NBA - Tonight,

the Magic buried them from 3 point range.

I guess, on any given night - - - Still applies in the NBA.

Magic certainly got it all together tonight.

Hawks still ain't great - - I know -- - But, we're pretty good - - Sometimes. Still over .500

with all our injuries. We're learning a new system. Sure beats our 13 win season of

a few years ago.
