Premium Member Diesel Posted September 30, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted September 30, 2003 That's right as a Head coach, Armond Hill never had a winning season. BUT, I think he'll do fine as a Pro Assistant. It's interesting. We got Armond Hill who has never done well as a College coach. However, Houston got Jim Harrick, one of the best College coaches in history. I dare to say that Hill will fare better than Harrick. I'm also interested in what Stotts will try to do? Will he try to run the Pete Carril Offense like NJ? If so, in 2 years, we could be a winning team.
Packfill
Hill was the head coach at Columbia - that school is notorious for having poor athletic teams, it is just not a focus for the university. I don't think a losing record at Columbia is indicative of the abilities of a coach. That said, he is a smart guy who should do well.
Guest
esp. given that's there's really only two teams in the ivies that can really recruit/have an est. program, year in and year out - penn and princeton (see NCAA bids for the past twenty or something years)...yale had a decent one last year. just a throw in tidbit, but don't put any stock in his "record" as head coach at columbia...it's a tough gig (insider knowledge).
