James Worthy with a Jumpshot....

Rumeal Robinson being the next Isiah Thomas by Babs. And this little nugget by Bob Weiss in the summer of '92...

'We are thrilled to get Adam Keefe. He was the player we was hoping would still be there at 10. The fans are booing now but they won't be once they see what he can do on the court...'

We really need to be banned from the draftroom.

I guess this isn't directly about a player but to me it is a horrible statement about Nique. This after Manning left via free agency.

To lose Danny Manning is difficult enough. The Hawks say they were prepared for this abandonment. "In-house, we asked ourself the question, 'Would we do this if we knew Danny would not be back?' " said general manager Pete Babcock, describing a pre-trade scenario. "It was unanimous on our staff that it was worth making the deal. "Lenny [Wilkens] and I are disappointed Danny is not coming back. But we were prepared for it. We made the trade with the understanding he wouldn't be back."

So we traded Nique AND a 1st round pick for a guy to play 20 games and the playoffs. To me this admission is worse than the trade itself.

How about some quotes from Squawkers?

Gutz - Horford is a Brian Cook clone people! He will be nothing more than an average role player in the NBA. If we took him at 3 it would be another HORRIBLE draft pick for BK. Worse than the Shelden pick at 5 in my eyes. You guys are funny!

http://www.hawksquawk.net/community/index.php/topic/212749-high-praise-for-shelden/page__view__findpost__p__212916

AtLaS - Yeah I've been saying it for a while, I don't know why everyone here is head over heels for Horford, he's simply not that impressive. Drafting him would just add another rookie to our bench who can't get PT because he's simply not that good.. But hey! He didn't pick himself!

Diesel - Horford is not even the best player on his team (Noah). He's just a guy who doesn't mind throwing himself around. He's athletic and he seems defensive but he has NO skills as either forward. He's supposed to be big time rebounder, but I watch the WFU-Fla Game. He wasn't impressive. I think he's too much of a tweener to be a pro Pf and he has not Sf game. Williams showed that if he leaned on him that he could score all night.

I don't remember that exact quote , but Sekou

said something like this about Speedy Claxston.

"Speedy's knee is looking as strong as ever.

He's even making quick cuts ,the way he

used to before the injury.

actually he did for the 1sy few months of that contract. Sekou had no idea Speedy's knee bones were made of low-grade particle board. You know...the kind of board that those cheap radio shack speakers are made of.

I think KB said Marvin would be a Top 10 player in the league

and avg 25ppg and 10 rpg

he made that quote 2 years after we signed Speedy ,

nbadraft.net on DerMarr Johnson:

DerMarr Johnson has abilities almost never found in a 6-9 player. His offensive potential is limitless.

Now for the best DerMarr Johnson quote from...

...

DerMarr Johnson on why Michael Jordan could not contain him on a basketball court.

"I don't think he could stop me from getting to the hole. Not with my crossover. I'm going to try to dunk on anybody, and he's too smart to try to block a dunk. At least I hope he's smarter than that."

The Marble quote is clearly the worst, because Marble is arguably the worst player in NBA history. I don't think there's ever been a player with a worse FG% who took at least 50 shots. I could be wrong, but it doesn't really matter. To compare the worst player in history to the best takes the cake, and I don't think it can ever be topped.

Now for the Worthy quote, I think you're referencing comparisons for Marvin. I think the comparison was just "James Worthy" because Worthy indeed had a fantastic jumpshot out to 18 feet...just not to 3 pt range. Based on jumpshot alone, the comparison wasn't that bad.

Actually, Rick Majerus did indeed say that Marvin was "James Worthy with a jumpshot".

In all fairness, Demarr had the world of potential and was coming into his own. He was going to have a breakout season. That one really set us back. He could have been special for real. Sad.

Yeah, it is really to bad ... we never will know what Demarr would have brought us. SImular to Jay Williams. That bike accident destroyed what was supposed to be a star career

I watched Dermarr throw down some sick dunks in live preseason action before his rookie year at Life College. He actually did have some tools. His problem was similar to Marvin's--he wasn't that assertive. If he doesn't break his back, i think we're looking at a 15 ppg complementary SG with a strong perimeter game at best. Don't think he would've ever been an NBA all-star
