MoBetta
I mean what goes on in his brain. He seriously thinks he can shoot like Reggie Miller. And he always stops at the 3pt line when running down the court so it makes it harder for the Hawks to rebound. He needs to be traded ASAP. Im sick of his azz.
Joker
I said this a year ago. For every four games where Josh looks like a MVP candidate, he will give you two games where you want to trade him. His problem is simple, he inconsistent and has low BBIQ. It's nothing to cry about but when you have major issues as a team, I can see why ppl want him gone. His impact is as close to elite as possible. So I wouldn't trade him. But we have to find players with high potential and can play at weak positions. We are very flawed and that's why we have to get a PG and C by the deadline.
Randy
I've always been a Josh fan, but more because back when the team was really bad, he was the most exciting guy to watch and it was fun seeing him develop his talents. I've even got a Josh t-shirt. But it does seem to me someone has to take the fall for the Hawks problems. In other words, a scapegoat is needed, and it needs to be someone who can bring something in a trade. (We already fired Woody, so I don't think they can fire the coach again, right away. If they do that, then the players will never take any coach seriously.) So they don't want to trade Al, no one would want Joe's contract. Bibby's too old. Marvin or Jamal wouldn't bring enough. So looks to me like Josh is the only guy left. Not to say he doesn't deserve some of the blame - in fact he does, which I think makes him the guy to go. If you are going to shake something up, you got to get rid of Josh. I'd rather someone figured out how to get his head screwed on right, but I don't think that's going to happen.

Your right its not gonna happen. He's 25 years old so this is the way he's gonna be. He's not young anymore, so you can't say "hey he'll learn from his mistakes" he's to old for that. He just needs to go.
Popular Post thecampster
And yet another game where Joe Johnson has 5 turnovers, 6 points and is a non factor at both ends and instead Josh is criticized for shooting 43% for the night..1 make short of 50%. Has 7 assists and was the only Hawk not benched in the first quarter for lack of effort. Way to go Hawks fans.

I agree, Josh doesn't fit in with this team, we need an inside post presence and Josh doesn't want to provide it. He keeps taking jumpshot after jumpshot after missing them one after another. Sure every coach would love a talent like Josh but not when he(Josh) doesn't listen.
Admin capstone21 Posted February 10, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted February 10, 2011 It is not that he doesn't fit with this team but he has the most trade value after Horford and we have a redundancy at PF. Josh could help net us that pg or center that we need to make us a more balanced team

Smoove might be the DUMBEST player i've ever seen in the NBA. I mean were down 20pts last night going into the 2nd qtr and Smoove's dumb *ss comes down and take a jumpshot right in front of the 3pt line and air balls it. I mean the guy is just an uneducated idiot. I bet he can't even read. It's time to trade him and get a REAL PG and CENTER that can contribute. Bibby is completely finished as well. Premium Member Jody23 Posted February 10, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) Fans have always wanted Josh to be a low post, back to the basket power forward. The problem is...Josh has never been that. Josh was widely projected by scouts and analysts as a 3 coming into the NBA because of his size and style of play. I don't think there's ever been a guy who was widely projected as a 3, come into the league and become a dominant, low post 4. Don't get me wrong, he makes some bad plays, but many fans get mad at him for not being something he's never been. The guy is a tremendous talent, but if you're waiting on him to be this low post, physical 4, you'll continue to be upset. I'm not saying the 3 is his best position, but he's just not going to be the type of 4 so many want him to be. I agree that his fanboys made him be something he's not and now are mad and want him gone. That's why I am not mad. I never got into Smith's hype but I knew his game. He's grown a lot and now I respect him. Ppl say he is dumb and he is but he used to be much much worst as far as BBIQ goes. He was JaVale McGee before JaVale McGee. Ppl want him to be Shawn Kemp but that was never possible physically for Josh. I like him, he's a high impact player. One I like watching on some nights and I am able to deal with his nonsense. I hope he stays in Atlanta for awhile unless we can get CP3 or Deron for him. He's the super athletic Lamar Odom with much better defense and much worst ball-handling and decision making skills. He's probably better coming off the bench while Marvin should start but we need to get legit in the starting five first. He's the perfect 6th man. More than even Jamal for us. He can be our Manu when Manu used to come off the bench. If we got Mayo and Thabeet Mayo Joe Smith Horford Thabeet Once Mayo and Thabeet grow close to their potential, eventually we need to move Smith to the bench and start Marvin. Mayo Joe Marvin Horford Thabeet 6th man: Smith This would give us maximum use of our starting five with high IQ players on the same page. Smith is coming off the bench to provide a lot of talent and a major spark. When those players (Mayo and Thabeet) reach good to solid in terms of overall ability. This means our starting five is very good like San Antonio but Smith attitude and BBIQ can sometimes change the flow of the game which Manu had issues with a couple years back and Odom did as well in LA. Smith could provide a lot of help and a major boost to the team off the bench. Right now as currently constructed, we are not talented enough to not start Josh. Bibby Joe Marvin Horford Collins That's not going to work. That's a current Indiana Pacers like lineup in terms of overall team in the starting five. So I hope that's what happens when he get better players. We can move Smith to the bench as a 6th man. He would excel there and won't lose us games like he does at times for us now. Just my take. What? Can't handle the truth? Give me a break man. I'm not saying anything everyone on this board already knows about Smoove except you apparently. I think you can ask all the older posters who dislike Smith more than me on this site for years. Everyone would tell you me without question. But to say he can't read, come on man, it's not that serious in his case. He's not even close to the dumbest players in the NBA today. He's the dumbest star player but no where close to the dumbest player. Edited February 10, 2011 by nbasuperstar40

The guy can barley form coherent sentences. He had to jump to the NBA out of high school. I'm from IU and a huge Hoosier fan and we had him committed. Turns out he was too dumb to even go to school there from what I heard internally.

Source: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/josh_smith/bio.html Received the Academic Award at Oak Hill for the highest grade point average maintained during the 2003-04 season. Have another drink of Haterade? I'm guessing if he had the top GPA on a team like Oak Hill, he can read a little. To clarify your Josh can't read comment, the proper start of your sentence should have been, "I mean, we're down". As long as we're calling someone iliterate, I thought you might appreciate the grammar lesson. Edited February 10, 2011 by thecampster

Turns out he was too dumb to even go to school there from what I heard internally. Again, untrue. Going into the draft that year, Josh was projected to go as high as 5th overall and fell due to questions about his work ethic to the Hawks at 17. Originally, the Hawks were going to take him 6th but after reports surfaced about his work ethic he dropped in the mocks to as low as 20. Never did he fall out of the mock draft's top 20 and with guaranteed big money on the table, went pro instead of going to Indiana. See: http://www.collegehoopsnet.com/Draft/2004mock.htm For an example. This one had him going 12 to Seattle. Most Mocks that year had the Hawks taking Luol Deng 6th. The 2004 draft was extremely strong and any variance from perfect weighed heavily that year. For a refresher, take a look at the players that went in 2004. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_NBA_Draft Duhon and Varejeo were 2nd rounders. Much of that first round are solid NBA'ers today. Which is rare. Edited February 10, 2011 by thecampster

Premium Member QuantumHawkz Posted February 10, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 10, 2011 I feel yea pain, but who can we get that dose what josh" the stat-filler" smith do? And the fact that he's ower best inside defender on a team with no true center, well we have to sick with him.So to the people that wants Smith gone theres your answer.Get a defending, rebounding, shot blocking center then we might see him gone.otherwise, he's staying. So the next time you see smith put up a boneheaded shot, think of this........It dosent matter what it is in life ,EVERYTHING has its positives and its negatives EVERYTHING. Moderators macdaddy Posted February 10, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted February 10, 2011 Josh is much more intelligent than this thread. Does anyone here realize that Josh, 2/3 of the way through the season, is a more effective 3 point shooter than Joe, Jamal, or Marvin???? Boy they must have an iq of 2. The personal attacks on Josh are just uncalled for. I don't care if you don't like him or his game but no one here knows much about him as a person.
