Premium Member sturt Posted November 29, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted November 29, 2011 Honestly? It might be the tired answer already, but I look for Sund to trade Smoove for a big man plus a bench scorer.
WraithSentinel
Assuming Sund doesn't do anything major beside sign D-Leaguers to fill out the roster. I look for Teague to start and Kirk to be the 6th man.

Easier said then done. If we completely bomb on CP3 or Deron we need to look to trade Hinrich and Zaza for Al Jefferson. It would be costly but why not? Premium Member Diesel Posted November 30, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted November 30, 2011 Isn't it obvious.. we go to Marvin's back... with his 5.5 ppg, 3 rpg.
TheNorthCydeRises
PG - Teague G - Johnson F - Marvin PF - Smith C - Horford 6th - Hinrich 7th - Zaza 8th - Chuck Hayes ( 3 yrs @ 5 mill . . player opt yr 2 - team opt yr 3 ) 9th - D. Wilkins ( 1 yr vet minimum ) 10th - Sy ( 2nd year of rookie minimum ) 11th - Collins ( 1 yr vet minimum ) 12th - Benson ( rookie minimum ) 13th - Rolle ( 2nd year of rookie minimum ) Team may be slightly over the Luxury Tax due to Hayes deal. If Hawks don't want to sign Hayes ( for rebounding ), sign Iverson for 1 yr vet minimum ( for possible scoring ) "The Core" simply has to get better folks. And Marvin needs to get back to 2007 - 08 level. And we need that Chicago playoff performance by Teague to NOT be a fluke. Moderators AHF Posted November 30, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted November 30, 2011 Team may be slightly over the Luxury Tax due to Hayes deal. The good news for the Hawks if they wanted to do something like this is that the new CBA is less harsh to teams that are just over the line. The Hawks would still receive their full profit sharing portion under this scenario and still have their full MLE, for example.

There's just not enough wiggle room to make any significant moves. Edited November 30, 2011 by hawkman
Joker
The Hawks could sign Jamal back for 5-6 mil for 4 years but it would mean they would have to have a need and a reason to go over the LT. It's very possible the Hawks could resign Jamal but not with this personnel. Jamal being resigned: 35% chance.
Premium Member sturt Posted December 1, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted December 1, 2011 Like who? Easier said then done. Not going that far... so many ways that that could occur... just recognizing that the team's leading asset is Smoove... Or, come to think of it, let me modify that... if I understand correctly (?), there is no more base year that would apply to Horford, and therefore he may be a more valuable piece. Trading Horford only makes sense for Dwight. No other trades would make us contenders. None. Trading him for Deron would defeat the purpose since Deron and Horford would be perfect fits while Josh and Deron is like Deron and Jefferson which is solid fits but nothing that could contend. Same with CP3. Why trade key assets just to trade them? There is a reason why Noah was never traded for Melo. Because without Noah, they don't stand a chance anyway. It must make sense or else, no reason to do the deal. So in other words, we only have one extreme asset: Smith A potential stud asset: Teague An expiring: Hinrich Untouchables: Joe and Al Untradeables: Marvin and Joe
