frosgrim
Getting Howard is a real basketball move, but it is an even better marketing move. As has been said by many, Atlanta is starving for a guy we can get behind. Everyone wanted Hayward to be that for the Braves, but he's falling short (but hopefully not in 20120. Point is, the Hawks need to offer what they can to try and get Howard. You do this, and Phillips sells out very quickly. The other thing that getting Howard does is make the franchise immensely more marketable to potential buyers. This is a huge point that shouldn't be overlooked. Will it happen, I have my serious doubts because these sorts of things NEVER happen with the Hawks. However, there is some logic to it from both the ATL and ORL sides of the equation. Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted December 27, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted December 27, 2011 1) The "won't trade within divisions" argument is more smoke than fire. NO was willing to trade Paul to the division rival Lakers. Big Easy and Tinseltown have teams in separate divisions. Minor correction, although the "more smoke than fire" point still holds. ~lw3
