FutureGM
According to Forbes Atl is considered the MOST miserable sports city in America, they define misery as "teams good enough to win games in the regular season but always disappoint their fans by falling short of a championship or getting pounded early in the playoffs continually every year." Yep that pretty much solidifies the city of Atlanta... Finally the world may understand the disappointment of our fan base. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/atlanta-reclaims-top-spot-on-list-of-most-miserable-sports-cities-022912
Wurider05
I don't think that its true. to be miserable about something you have to care. We all know that Matt Ryan is overrated, JJ is overpaid, and that Chipper is over the hill. These teams pretty much do as expected yearly. Plus there are so many other things to do in the Atlanta area folks just don't care. Same can be said about UGA and Tech. There is no way in hell Bobby cox would have lasted as long as he did in any other city in america. same with Osh Smith.
Buzzard
This is a bit of a reach, but I would much rather have the Hawks history than the Warriors or Clips. You can add on Minny and Cleveland as well if you do not count what their franchises did prior to about 40 or 50 years ago. It is sad but we do have a champion in the Braves. Minny had one with the Twins. Cleveland has nothing but a heart breaking loss to our Braves and then got swept in the NBA finals. GS and the Clipps are as pitiful as you can get. The criteria they use is not a true measurement in my opinion. Edited March 1, 2012 by Buzzard
benhillboy
Atlanta needs and deserves exceptional talents. None of our teams have any. Vick, Sanders, and Nique were beloved here because they had unique, world-class talent. Atlanta is too lively a city to get excited about guys who are just good: Ryan, Johnson, and McCann. We need an Atlanta Professional Sports Czar to guarantee we acquire a transcendent player for all 3 franchises in the next 5 years. All three of these franchises can win in the regular season and get to the playoffs regulay barring extreme meltdowns like the Braves had last season. Atlantans don't get excited over that. Until we get an All-Star Game Starter, a starting RB in the Pro Bowl, or a #3 hitter to start the All-Star Game, we'll forever be the Great City with mediocre pro sports and faces of those sports.
