For those of you who want scoring vs rebounding in the draft.

Bynum takes up space. That matters in the NBA. Ask any big. Now if the big takes away boards like Love or D12, that matters too. Zaza isn't a weak rebounder, he just isn't all that athletic and his instincts isn't all that. Zaza is a true center as well who has more body than Horford.

Spin the excuse machine any way you like. Gasol is better than Josh in all fundamental parts of the game. End of story.

So it can't be because Josh Smith is 26 and improving, ?

IMO, it is both but the biggest factor was Horford's absence. Josh had more rebounds available and was more focused on rebounding. Hopefully he will maintain that improved focus when Horford returns but his numbers are likely to drop anyway.

Exactly and if Josh was paired with Bynum they would drop even more.

This is true but I never said he wasn't. Josh has no fundamentals outside of defense.

Why don't you go ask a big and bring me the quote instead of this opinon you have. You act like Horford is chopped liver and takes up no space yet with him in the game Josh is one of the weakest starting PF's in the East in Rebounds per 48. Now take him out of the lineup and insert a weaker rebounder and he is still weak per 48 but he is better.

Bottom line: Gasol next to Bynum or Horford is greater than Josh next to anyone in terms of rebounding.

Horf would be better next to a true center as would Josh be better next to a space eater like Bynum. Gasol would be worse. His REB #'s in Memphis is closer to Smith now than anything else. Edited by Joker

Bynum only played 54 games and got 27 mpg in 10/11 yet Gasol put up 10.2 rpg in 81 games. Gasol has become a better player since going to LA. Much better defensively and that makes sense. In Memphis he was the #1 offensive option. In LA he is the 2nd or 3rd option.Space eater, is that a pro scouting term? Looks to me like you are missing a "H" as in space heater lmao

He was next to Kobe, he was actually a legit #2 option. Teams had to truly respect Kobe, they know a double team doesn't faze Kobe. Kobe can only beat Kobe. The problem with Gasol is he is regressing, redundant with Horf, and he is more likely to play like Memphis Gasol than LA due to personnel grouping fail.

lmao. "because of personel grouping fail" another pro scouting term I guess and one more pitiful attempt to deny the facts. So what if Gasol plays next to Kobe and is the number 2 option. What the hell does that have to do with a power forwards ability and chances to rebound a basketball?
