Guest
41% is not great. What about .371 from three? And .446 from two?
Premium Member niremetal Posted July 10, 2012 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 10, 2012 41% is not great. The guy's career 3P% is .426 (5th among active players) and his career FT% is .897 (2nd among active players). That is great. He may not be a well-rounded player (or even a well-rounded scorer), but his stroke guarantees him a long career in the league.
atlbraves93
The Nets weren't going to do the deal if we absolutely demanded MarShon.
Moderators AHF Posted July 10, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted July 10, 2012 41% is not great. He has a career .572 ts%. JJ's career best is .557 ts% and his career average is .529 ts%. .572 ts% >> .529 ts% Now not all is equal there, JJ is forced to take more shots, etc. but that huge gap should show why Morrow is considered a desirable shooter. I just saw that hawksfanatic put up the 3pt and 2pt breakdown as well which shows him well above average in both categories. Bear in mind, roughly 45% of his shots are 3's so the overall FG% is not going to be very informative on his effectiveness considering that a 40% shot on 3's is fantastic.
Guest
Its really just Simpson's Paradox (wikipedia it). His overall % is lower than average while 3pt and 2pt are above average (well, 2pt might be slightly below but its right there). Its a head scratcher for a bit because people get an idea of the transative property...but it doesn't apply. Overall fg% is a weighted average of 2pt and 3pt and Morrow takes a disproportionate amount of 3pters.Nerded.

Fairly sure that THIS is who Fanatic more closely resembles...
txsting
The Nets weren't going to do the deal if we absolutely demanded MarShon. Right. And if the Nets lose the Howard deal, they will have messed up by trading for Joe. Wouldn't the Howard trade be done by now if not for the Joe trade making it much more difficult? Admin
Right. And if the Nets lose the Howard deal, they will have messed up by trading for Joe. Wouldn't the Howard trade be done by now if not for the Joe trade making it much more difficult? Possibly, but without the JJ trade it's likely that Deron would have already agreed to sign with Dallas and they'd be working on trading for Dwight.
