DeShawn Stevenson went on a Twitter rant Tuesday where he called out an ex-Nets teammate for talking some crap.

Though Stevenson didn’t say who he was upset with, we have a pretty good idea.

There is strong speculation that Stevenson was directing his anger toward Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams, who complained last week about his teammates’ behavior following losses last season.

“It was hard. I’ve never been in that position before,” Williams told reporters. “So at times, I’ve showed frustration, but I think anybody would have. I think no matter who it is, if you were there every day and you saw what was going on in the locker room you’d be pissed off too sometimes. You’re getting your asses kicked and then you’re in the locker room laughing about the game afterwards.

“I don’t think that stuff is funny. That’s what we had to deal with last year. But I don’t think we’re going to deal with it this year, because just talking to the guys, that’s not what we’re about. We’re talking about not losing two games in a row. We were just trying to fight to win two games in a row last year.”

Stevenson may have seen those comments on ESPN’s website, causing him to say “ESPN Mag” in his tweet. We could be wrong about whom he’s upset with, but we do know one thing is for certain: You never want to be on the bad side of a guy who has an Abe Lincoln neck tattoo.

The gentleman who declared, "I play better on playoff teams" might do well to stifle on this one.

If he is in fact the player that D-Will was complaining about, then I can't say I blame him. I think it would be hard to get motivated to play for a bad team. It's easier to play for a bad team when you are the man and get paid almost $20 mil/year. Hope Deshawn uses this as motivation for the rest of the season, given that he is here for the entire season. I have always liked Deshawn as a player. He plays great defense and isn't afraid of anyone or voicing his opinion. He also can hit threes, is a hard worker, and will fight over rebounds. He and Ivan along with Pachulia are going to be a great tandem off the bench for the Hawks. They are the players we have been missing the last few seasons; guys with grit and a F you attitude. Bad boys Atlanta!

Hmmm...might Ivan have some competition for most pissed off this year? Got to say, after all these years of choir boys on our team I might like this aspect. So long as they aren't going crazy off the course then I will be very happy with this enthusiasm from our team. Has Deshawn had off court issues though? I know he has an ATM in his house and is just strange, but is he also causing problems?

I love having Deshawn on the team. His grit and experience goes well with our bench. As said before, the tough tandem of Ivan, Zaza, and DeShawn can do wonders for us. Nobody can call us a "soft" team that's for sure.

I like that he seems motivated this year. A lineup of Teague/Stevenson/Josh/Al/Zaza might not be our best offensive lineup but you know it would not be one that opposing offenses want to face. If Stevenson can nail his 3s he may see a lot of PT.

Nets-Hawks rivalry brewing for the season?DeShawn definitely shoots better on playoff teams. Last year was an anomaly. DeShawn is a 38%-40% 3 PT shooter.

Yeah, I am starting to like Deshawn except I cannot fully commit. Does he actually have issues or is he just really crazy and competitive? I can live with the latter, but the former is a concern.

As far as I know, Deshawn was accused of statutory rape as a rookie but he was straight out of high school and playing in Utah. Shamsports has this info on him:

1999: Charged with misdemeanour assault for his role in a high school brawl.

June 2001: Arrested for statutory rape after admitting that he had sex with a 14 year old girl. He was 20 at the time. Pleaded innocent to the charge. Apparently, two girls, one 14 and one 15, were invited by Stevenson to the flat of a friend of his, unwillingly gotten drunk on brandy and Coke, and then he had sex with them. One said that she would not have done so were she not drunk, but her testimony was disregarded after she admitted to framing up one of the other defendants. Pleaded no contest to the charge of having sex with a minor. Was fined, given two years probation, and sentenced to 100 hour community service, which amusingly and amazingly was to be served at a "Boys and Girls" club. Later changed to a club for boys only.

14th June 2011: Two days after winning the NBA championship, Stevenson was arrested for being drunk and disorderly outside an apartment complex. When asked what he was doing there, Stevenson allegedly stated he did not know where he was. Stevenson later blamed racial profiling for his arrest.

Getting arrested and not knowing where he was...kind of awesome. Blaming it on racial profiling, not really awesome. He is a tough guy to understand, sounds like a plus in my book.

Well. . . Deshawn apologized to Williams after Deron called him to say that he wasn't talking about Deshawn.
