TheNorthCydeRises
Might as well have my own highlight thread in honor of the semi-great Joe Johnson. The Hawks need to do right, and have a number retirement ceremony when he comes to Philips next month. Maybe it's too early to do all of this right now, but better to do it now, than to do it after he possibly does something significant in Brooklyn. Nice no look feed to Andray Blatche in the preseason. A fairly basic play for JJ. Nice how he uses his body to bump the defender, then delivers the nice pass for the score. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiiEJ4Nn7Ro Edited December 15, 2012 by northcyde
TheNorthCydeRises
Oh wow . . . you can't post Youtube vids on here anymore? Plus I can't use the full editor to bold or color the font.
TheNorthCydeRises
OK . . let's reboot this thread and try it again. PRESEASON JJ with the nice no-look pass to Andray Blatche. Basic play. BROOKLYN vs BOSTON Regardless of what you think about JJ, anytime anybody can make that crybaby Paul Pierce look stupid, you have to love it. JJ has has many ball handling highlights, but this may top them all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GDEsB_Fwy0
TheNorthCydeRises
BROOKLYN vs DETROIT Just to give Piston fans another reason to hate JJ, he gets them again with a buzzer beater . . this time to beat them. JJ must've been watching Jordan vs Russell in the 1998 NBA Finals, with the slight push off JJ did on Tayshawn Prince.

Moderators macdaddy Posted December 26, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted December 26, 2012 Brooklyn looked terrible yesterday. Not sure what's going on with them because they should be a lot better. I don't have the same love for Joe that you do. I pulled for them yesterday but frankly i'm hoping they continue to slide. http://youtu.be/c5IvmmEKH8Y
TheNorthCydeRises
After getting BLASTED by the Spurs, JJ took it upon himself to get his squad off to a rousing start. He usually has one game a year in the month of January in which he looks like a true superstar. His 33 points @ OKC was that game.

I like Joe but had a lot of issues with him the last couple years. Still the one thing that made him much better than most of the league is if you give him a little daylight he will knock it down. That shot at the 6 second mark Durant doesn't even make a move toward him.
TheNorthCydeRises
SMH . . . now this dude is "Mr. Game Winner" all of a sudden? In another double OT thriller, JJ has to bail out the Nets again with a game winning jumper against the lowly Wizards. He's continuing the trend of late last year with the Hawks, in which he's starting to make a lot of late game jumpers to either tie or win games. Not taking anything away from Joe but geez that's bad defense. Almost uncontested 16 footer for the win. I don't remember him ever getting a look that good with the Hawks. TheNorthCydeRises
JJ tried to make a major push to get into the All-Star game on MLK Day, with his performance vs their now hated rival NY Knicks. Along with the 5 triples . . . http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=StLfqTYtkbk He made what would be the game winner, which would be officially his 3rd "game winning" shot this year. He's continuing to be huge in the clutch, a trend he started last year with us. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHfAIiyd0k8 JJ = the new Chauncey Billups Edited January 27, 2013 by northcyde
TheNorthCydeRises
In an off the court highlight, here is JJ being a spokesperson of the Delete Blood Cancer campaign. His mother has blood cancer ( I believe it's leukemia ), so he didn't hesitate to put his name and face behind this cause. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbR5hvBMezw
TheNorthCydeRises
First it was Paul Pierce. Now Chris Bosh becomes a victim of the JJ Crossover. LOL @ the Nets bench. The first person to jump up when he does that move, is Keith Bogans. He's felt the wrath of a JJ tricky dribble before himself. This would be the only thing the Nets could cheer about, because the Heat would roll to an easy victory as the game wore on. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoSmbDVWCg0 The Phantom slo-mo version of the play reveals the "secret" of that move . . . the quick elbow push to throw Bosh even more off balance. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZwsWHg6zVY
TheNorthCydeRises
And here we go AGAIN!! Another late game three to send the game into OT. And then he wins it at the buzzer in OT to beat the Milwaukee Bucks. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xPvsOjazqU For a guy who used to miss a TON of late game shots below 20 seconds from about 2005 - 2009, he's MR. CLUTCH all of a sudden. Ever since he beat Charlotte with that buzzer beater in 2010, this guy has made a TON of late game shots in Atlanta and now in Brooklyn. That's about 4 game winners alone this year, along with the heroic shooting he was doing with the Hawks after the All-Star break last year. benhillboy
I gotta give it to your boy last night. Two beautiful plays. The footwork on the mid-range jumper damn sure looked like Kobe, and the long three just looked like Joe.
Admin
I will always miss his late game shots and his ankle breaking crossover dribbles. I won't miss him pounding the ball into the court for 20 seconds while everyone else stands around and watches and I won't miss paying him $20 million a season the next 4 years though.

Frankly i've never seen Joe make a game winner like that one where he drives on the guy and shoots a mid range. It's usually a step back 3 or something. What i don't understand is why he isn't getting doubled in brooklyn. I know they have some other options but passing out of double teams has always been his problem. All of a sudden teams have forgotten that?
