yungsta
We just mentally checked out. We had some AWFUL turnovers that lead to easy baskets, philly got just about every 50-50 ball, and we played with little effort. There was 1 possession where thaddus young was surrounded by 4 hawk players but he some how was able to get 3 offense rebounds and score. Just an overall bad game.
Plainview1981
Made Philly look good? Look at the roster. It appears reality is starting to set in. Oh, and Al has been terrible lately. Teague has been bad for over a month mostly and the shooters missed time and time again. This team is starting to get stomped by everyone not named Washington or Charlotte. Would you scrap the coach and try the team under someone new? Would you just give them time?

Gray Mule
This is that transistion (sp) season. Hawks are not supposedto be great or horrible. This is supposed to be the season we decide what to do in thefuture. Who stays and who goes and why. Trade deadline is notuntil February. We may or may not make a deal by then. Meanwhile, the players we put on the floor a lot now may beto showcase them as trade material or to see if they are worthsigning to a new contract as some will be free agents at the endof the season. Our coach, good or bad, has a contract good for this season only.Whether or not he is renewed depends on how he does with whathe's got and also who is available for next season. We knew, coming in, we would win about half of our games. We dida lot better than that and got excited. Now, we're falling back to theexpected .500 level. Why are we tore up about it? We should knowwhere we are supposed to end up. Hawks have had some terrible games of late. Nothing seems to workas it's supposed to. And, to make your's truly cringe, they keep missingthose free throws. Bah. Humbug. Hit you're danged foul shots. I felt like the Hawks quit on us last night. Am I the only one? We have an entire roster of pretty good players. Some who have greatgames for us, but not all the time. When everything works right, we win. When it doesn't, last night's game shows us the results. GO HAWKS AND FALCONS TONIGHT!!
Premium Member BrazilianHawk Posted December 22, 2012 Premium Member Report Share Posted December 22, 2012 (edited) Horford has been just HORRIBLE. Teague looks like he lacks the confidence he showed at the beggining of the season. What just happened to these two guys? Can't win with them playing like that. Josh looked like the ball was burning his hands at the beggining of the game and had 3 turnovers in the 1st quarter alone if I'm not mistaken. He got better afterwards and was our second best player last night, (King Zaza, our MZP was the best IMHO) which isn't necessarily a good thing. Outrebounded by a lot again. NO EFFORT in defense WHATSOEVER. Again. Petro shouldn't even play in garbage time. So depressing. He should be glad he still has a job in the NBA. Jenkins can do everything Morrow and Stevenson do and probably more. GOTTA GIVE THE ROOK MORE MINUTES. Fast trigger. LD... I don't know. Still don't like him. It looks to me he has little to no control over the team, especially Josh. And his lineups and VERY suspect at times. Gray Mule
Brazilian Hawk. No one has ever been accused of having any control over Josh. Why shouldwe believe that this season will be any different. He is going to do whateverit suits him to do. Period. End of thought. Some are under the impression that he should be an all star. Why? He hasthe ability to look so great one minute and so bad the next. And, he cries. Instead of rushing back on defense, he's questioning the ref, "Why didn't youcall a foul on the last play?" Meanwhile, his opponent scores on the other end.(He would only get one point on his free throws - About 50% shooter) Super athlete. But, not as much as he was at one time. Love him or hate him. He's just Josh and always will be as long as he remains a Hawk. We all knowhis good side and we also know the bad.
TheNorthCydeRises
In light of this, what would you do as GM? Would you scrap it all? Would you keep Smoove and Scrap the rest? Would you scrap the coach and try the team under someone new? Would you just give them time?No . . . you start playing the rookies, namely John Jenkins. It's time to see if his game will start translating to the NBA level.I'm sorry, but Anthony Morrow just isn't going to cut it. He's lost his deadeye shot and is now just an average 3 point shooter. So if he isn't a lights out shooter anymore, start playing the kid. We're 15 - 9, and going through the first taste of adversity all season. No way do you push the delete button right now.Having said that, this schedule isn't going to get easier as the season progresses. It's amazing that we haven't played Chicago ( until tonight ), NY Knicks, Brooklyn, Boston, and Milwaukee. You're talking at least 15 games vs those teams alone remaining, not including 2 more games vs Miami and having to go back through the West Elite teams. TheNorthCydeRises
The other thing I wish, is that Drew simply commit to the big lineup of Zaza - Horford - Smith, regardless of what the matchups say. Make them match up to US . . not the other way around.Start that group, then manage the rotations the rest of the way.
