ag82
Doubt this has much truth to it but people on twitter just started talking josh and filler for amare and shumpert.Thoughts? If I'm not mistaken amare has a huge contract. Atleast its a new fake rumor to discuss. Edited February 20, 2013 by ag82

Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted February 20, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted February 20, 2013 Dear Media - Headlines at this point should not come with question marks. It's like: "The Popcorn You're Eating May Have Been P*ssed In?" Just say if it's a serious rumor "floating out there," or leave it be. Knicks, Hawks Discuss Blockbuster Trade? http://www.hoopsworld.com/knicks-hawks-discuss-blockbuster-trade/ While the Knicks have weighed several minor deals that would bring in a veteran role player – such as Jared Dudley, J.J. Redick or Luke Ridnour – they have also been gauging interest in an Amar’e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert package, according to sources. The Knicks are shopping this package in an attempt to land a significant player. One player that they’d like to pry loose is Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks, according to a league source. While it’s admittedly unlikely, it’s a rumor that has floated around in recent days. It’s a deal that makes sense for New York. A trade of Stoudemire and Shumpert for Smith and a filler such as Zaza Pachulia, for example, would work under the cap. The Knicks get a big-time player and suddenly, they have the talent to contend for a championship this year (and for years to come if they can re-sign Smith this summer). The question is why would Atlanta do this? The Hawks would be giving up their cap flexibility by taking on the two years and $45,090,881 remaining on Stoudemire’s contract. The only way Atlanta does this trade is if they’ve given up hope of signing a star free agent this summer and want to bring in a big name that they can sell to their fans. Money aside, Stoudemire has played well this season in New York and he and Al Horford would form a nice frontcourt in Atlanta. Also, the Hawks have made an effort to bring in players from Georgia to engage the fanbase such as Anthony Morrow and Lou Williams. Shumpert starred at Georgia Tech and could be a fan favorite in Atlanta. However, it’s hard to get past the money aspect since the Hawks seem determined to preserve their cap space. Again, this is out of left field and seems unlikely, but it’s a rumor that’s floating out there so we’re passing it along. ~lw3

hawkrule152
I have NEVER seen Joe show that type of emotion when he was in Atlanta. I am glad to see him finally show some emotion tho. Hope nothin but the best for that guy. Will be rooting for him throughout the playoffs!
ryandauwalker
Amare/Shumpert/1st for Josh/Morrow ??That would be tempting despite the contract.
frankthetank966
Amare/Shumpert/1st for Josh/Morrow ??That would be tempting despite the contract.the draft is awful this year. What would be tempting about this?
GameTime
Amare/Shumpert/1st for Josh/Morrow ??That would be tempting despite the contract. Best deal i've seen all week. Shump is an elite defender with tons of potential offensively and Amare has been playing great this season. If we get rid of Josh, Dwight is most likely not coming here, making the cap room meaningless unless we want to overpay for someone. Bamalawdawg
That would be one of the worst trades in NBA history. Oh, and the Zaza billboard staring into my apartment begs to differ that he is filler. Is there a Shumpert billboard up in NYC?
ryandauwalker
Agreed, Zaza is not a filler. Morrow is a filler. If they send a 1st round pick our way as well, that's a good bit of talent coming in to compensate for Amare's contract. Hard to imagine we'd do better via FA. thecampster
Woody did get him to stop shooting 3sWe turn this down tho Just a side note. Josh is 35% from 3 this season. More than acceptable.
ViperXX79
Just a side note. Josh is 35% from 3 this season. More than acceptable. One good week has made that number look a lot better than it should be. Stats are misleading...
Wurider05
Just a side note. Josh is 35% from 3 this season. More than acceptable.but he misses 65% of those shots and his counterpart on the other team just collects the rebounds because Josh Smith is on the perimeter and not in the paint (where power forwards suppose to be). This creates more opportunities for his team. This is why he is always open his man in preparing to get the rebound. . Rinse and repeat.
Q45T
I like this deal only because Amar'e used to be my favorite player and I like Shump's defense but Amar'e's contract is too much.
