bird_dirt
Per Sam Amico (CLICK to read). They may try to sign and trade if either or both price themselves out of DF's price range though. Glad DF will try to keep them within certain limits. Much like the Joe Johnson resigning, I'm all for getting them to resign with the idea that they can be traded away in a year and we could potentially get more from them when our backs aren't against the wall and they we feel we have to trade them or risk getting nothing when they become FA. coachx
Writer speculation...........and he admits it. No way Atlanta gives Smith more then $74 mill for 4 years.........which is the max deal he can get in the open market. Reason being no team will give him that in the open market. Time for us to speculate now.........the max deal Smith will get in the open market, in my opinion, is 4 years $60 mill. Atlanta can sign him to a 5 year deal. The most I would pay him is 5 years at $60 - $65 mill and that would be with an eye toward trading him at the 2o14 trade deadline (just as Denver did with Nene.) I may consider a 4 year $60 mill deal if the plan is to trade in your poker chips. At the same time I would have no problem seeing him walk. Of course that has been my steady opinion since last November.
yungsta
i always thought if ferry resigned smoove it would be for a bargain contract so he could trade him and get some value out of him.
Ruckus
I'm not giving Brick 15 a year, period. No ifs, ands, or buts.
APE
Shitbrain's antics got old years ago, I don't think I can deal with another deal for a player that'll never know how to win. Korver on the other hand... GET IT DONE DF!!

frankthetank966
Korver will likely take less money to play elsewhere like CHI or UTAH. He obviously likes the environment of arenas that are packed.

ATLscrubLove
If the Hawks re-sign Smoove... I don't think I could continue being a fan of this team. That's saying a lot because I'm a die hard fan.
Wurider05
I have to 2nd that. If they resign Smoove I won't bother with this team anymore.

benhillboy
I don't believe Ferry wants Josh here for one second. Judging by the trade offers he got, not many other GMs want him either.
TheNorthCydeRises
I can tolerate Josh coming back. It's just that he can't be the best ( or thinks he's the best ) player on the team. If you bring Josh back, you can't make him the marquee player. Either bring in a better player, or make Horford the marquee name and the face of the franchise. As long as Josh thinks that "he's the Atlanta Hawks", his style of play is not going to change. He's going to try to be Superman, even if he has Aquaman type powers. Buzzard
I think its a matter of what kind of SNT we can get for Smoove. Not if he leaves but how he leaves is the only thing left to be determined.
Premium Member Diesel Posted March 20, 2013 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 20, 2013 Steps backwords. BUT... Predictable. If the Hawks do make the move to resign smoove at 15+. Then sign Korver, they are definitely on the train to mediocrity. None of the moves that had been made previously would matter.

None of the moves that had been made previously would matter.I've been a staunch Smoove supporter, and I think Korver is a good piece, specialist. But if that's our big "splash" this summer, I'll be disappointed. That says to me we're happy being a 4-7 seed for awile. Which isn't all bad, I suppose. But, to complete for a title, that won't cut it.
