I wasn't able to find anywhere that says who Dwight's favorite team was growing up but I seem to remember him saying the Hawks, although he was a hardcore MJ and KG fan and says he rocked all the Jordan gear as a kid. Chris Paul, on the other hand, was a Bulls fan.

I don't think it really matters if they were childhood fans of club x or y. What matters is who can bring them together to win championships. That team is the Hawks. 'nuff said.
