Speaking of "scrubs" . . . ATLscrublove is the guy who can have the most effect from a fan standpoint, since he's our "unofficial" video editor.

Make a video featuring Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, and Al Horford. Title it . . "The NEW Big 3 in Atlanta?"

Compile a series of the best highlights featuring those 3 player, along with good interview soundbites. Even do some on-screen graphics citing their accomplishments as NBA players.

He's a creative video maker, so I'm sure he can come up with something real good in about 2 weeks. I wish my editing skills were tight. I'd do it.

northcyde, you are a solid poster and use numbers. Compile a list of why John Jenkins and Al Horford would be much better with Dwight than they are right now with what we have if possible.

As noted here, Dwight:

you're looking at the first time, since 1969, that this Atlanta Hawks team ranked 1st in the Eastern Conference, and second in the NBA, in assists per game. This ain't your father's Atlanta Hawks. Heck, this ain't even your old Atlanta Hawks.

And here's the thing: it's not necessarily dominant point guard play creating the ball movement. Last year, Al Horford and your old chum Josh Smith were the NBA's only frontcourt duo each averaging at least 3.0 assists per game. Envision -- being treated by your franchise not merely as a defensive stopgap, but as a respected two-way player and an integral element of the offense!

Yes, Larry Drew was the prime architect of the offensive schemes and is on his way to America's Dairyland. But guess who was the only NBA team to produce more assists than the Hawks last season? That's right. The Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs. And their "co-head-coach" Mike Budenholzer is on his way to Atlanta, quite possibly with a fifth NBA championship ring on his thumb.

Who runs this effective-passing offense, you ask? Well, it will be either the incumbent in Jeff Teague (12th in APG), or the guy who finished second in the NBA assists per game... your good buddy Chris Paul! Which Demon Deacon do YOU prefer? Speaking of pals, your old friend Lou Williams (3.6 APG, just 1.9 TOs/G) is no slouch either. Remember all those lob jams you used to get?

You're getting someone more talented than Jameer Nelson, and younger and more athletic than Steve Nash, finding you above the rim now. Dust off that cape!

Imagine yourself (1.5 APG for your career) unleashing an element of your game like never before, getting league-wide praise as a "team player" while boosting up your assist totals with dimes from the low block to Lou, or to Al, or one of the capable PGs. Lou nailed more than half of his shots (51.5 FG%) from 10-to-15 feet last year. Only Melo, KG, and KD took as many mid-range shots as Horford and finished at a higher percentage.

You may also have at your disposal the emerging sharpshooter John Jenkins, fourth among drafted NBA rookies in 3FG% last season. The league's fourth-most accurate shooting big from on 20-to-25 foot shots, Ivan Johnson, may be back, too. You'll have many options spreading the floor for you, making post play and offensive rebounding a breeze. Plus you've got a relatively young core that likes to run in transition, and doesn't hesitate to include their bigs in the fastbreak party. And you'll have as many as ten additional options to choose from. As Nick Gilbert likes to ask, "What's Not to Like?"

And that's JUST the offense!
