DJlaysitup
Seriously - from what I've read recently this is not a drill...General Quarters. It looks like we are fairly out of the running for the bigtime free agents...and we have 3 - yes - Three - players definitley signed to play for our team next year. Holy Cow - what the heck is our DF going to do? We could easily be last place next year if we just rely on AL - Lou (if he is OK) and the new guy. batfanjordanv
I agree. I am getting worried, too! Out of the major free agents, I think Dwight is the one we have the most chance of signing, but if we don't sign him, I am very worried for next season. I think Devin, Korver, and Zaza will be back, and I have a feeling all four of our DPs would make the team (unless one of them opted to stay overseas or something), so that would give us 10 guys, but I'm not sure how good that roster would be unless one of our DPs makes a big immediate impact. DJlaysitup
I think Devin, Korver, and Zaza will be back, You can forget Korver...and I don't mean I'm being a jerk about some teams wanting a white player who can play. Korver has shown a lot - bigtime 3 point threat - and he stays in shape - he will get overpaid (?) by some team - likely 3 years - 24 mil. More than we will pay - so - Adios Kyle.....next! P.S. - nobody will agree with me but we will see - I say Kyle Korver gets a 3 year 27 million - or even a 4 year 32. JMHO...wanna bet? (I take paypal) Edited June 22, 2013 by DJlaysitup Keep that stuff off of here please

(I take paypal) There isn't enough league cap space for a team to offer Kyle 8-9 million a season. There are about 8-10 teams that will have 10 million or more in available cap space. Of that about 5 have 18 or more. That's room for about 15 players to get contracts of 8 million or more this year without resigning with their original team. When you assume that of the top 10 free agents about half will resign with their original team and that will eliminate a few of the above mentioned slots, that leaves about 13 slots for 8 million plus in free agents. Or meaning for Kyle to get above the MLE (your 8-9 milion), he's have to be considered one of the top 18 ish free agents available this year. Below is a link to the list available free agents. Go through the list and mentally decide who is a better investment that Kyle. There are at least 20. http://www.hoopsworld.com/2013-nba-free-agents
DrReality
Not to overreact but the case in point is possible. Want to say that both trades DF made of JJ and Marvin were unexpected. I didn't see them coming. Got to believe DF s an B is similar. Mat least I hope so

So we tank this year and get wiggins, then try our hand at next year's deeper crop of FA's. I'm good with that. In that plan, draft some project guys and give them playing time to develop. Premium Member Wretch Posted June 22, 2013 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) The perfect storm is in FULL swing. The NBA Finals was the last piece of the puzzle for us. Much as I hate seeing LeBron and the Heat win another championship, if you're an elite talent like Howard or CP3 and you're watching this...you're saying to yourself, "How am I going to beat that team to win a ring." Miami is not going to slow down. In fact, the only thing holding them back is that coach. They are going to storm through the regular season next year, and they will be back in the hunt again. It's either watch these guys win not one, not two, not three championships OR face off against the team that actually BEATS them.... Or get the best big man and the best PG together and build a super team of their own. Make no mistake, they might not be talking about Atlanta, but after the disastrous seasons they had getting knocked out in the 1st round...and watching Miami win it again... Chris Paul and Dwight Howard have every intention of forming at least a "Big 2" somewhere. The easiest and really the best situation talent wise is to do that with Horford right here in Atlanta. There may be some pride involved, there may be some fear of bad management involved, there may be some LA glitz and glamour involved, and there is an outside chance that money is a concern (though I highly doubt it) - but if the PRIMARY concern is building the best team possible... Then there isn't a better situation than Atlanta and it is FAR less complicated than anything else they can cook up. KB21
It blows me away to see fans support the strategy of tanking even when there is a mountain of evidence that shows it is one of the worst strategies you can take when it comes to building a team.

If it came to it I'd rather have a team like the Magic that wasn't very good/not terrible but played their ends off and end up with the #2 pick.
theheroatl
Wait until July 1st.. Rumors will be flying for EVERY TEAM in the NBA. Does ANYBODY remember LeBron? Wow.. I really thought it could have been the NETS, Knicks, or Bulls almost every day!
Randy
Speaking of Miami - my fear is they go for ZaZa. Their biggest problem in the East is Indy - and Hibbard should only get better, while they are only getting older. ZaZa seems to have had Hibbard's number for a while, he's an FA, and Miami needs a center. Do the math. (Since we are in panic mode anyway, might as well think of more worst cases scenarios.) BTW - those guys wearing Hawks uniforms over to my right - can Hawksqwuawk get fined for tampering with the Clippers and Lakers fan boards? OK - that's what you say - I say he gets 3 years $(oops) 24m. Wanna bet? C'mon Wanna bet? I will bet you Camp - $1million dollars that Korver gets 3-24 or better. A MILLION BUCKS. Now granted - I don't have a million bucks so if I'm wrong you may have to hold my "light" for awhile - but I will afford you the same courtesy. There is no one way that a 33 year old one-way player gets $8 mil/yr. He had his best season last year and it wasn't $8 mil/yr type numbers. He isn't a starter. He doesn't play stellar defense. All he does is make three's. Specialist won't get big bucks in this CBA. Iggy will likely get $8 mil/yr in this new CBA, Korver will be lucky to see north of $4 mil/yr. I see him @ 3 yr/ $10.5 mil.
