Atlanta Hawks want to bring Muscala over

On my mobile phone, so I can't post the tweet, but it indeed states that Muscala is signed thru 2017. Interesting move considering he's never played a second in the NBA.

So would you consider the length of every rookie deal to be interesting then?

Considering he wasn't a first rounder who is automatically given a multi-year deal, yes it is interesting.

Not if you take into account the changing landscape of 2nd round picks and the new CBA. Chicago originally signed Asik to a 2 year deal and he blew up then Houston swooped in. Chandler Parson signed a 4 year deal as a 2nd rounder so right now Houston is enjoying him at his low salary. Had they signed him to a 2 year deal he would have already hit free agency.There was a post in some thread reagarding hiw agents are handling contracts for 2nd rounders.If DF things he will be a rotation player why let him hit free agency? Control his rights for as long as possible.Anyone know the amount of the deal? Are all 4 years gauranteed? Team Options? Edited by JayBirdHawk

Sorry, woke up and saw a peachtreehoops tweet stating that

No need to apologize, it was meant to be helpful criticism. Posters will respect you more if you post the link as a way to verify your statement. Posters appreciate when someone provides information to the board, but if you are not well known (and even if you are...) it is fairly pointless to make a factual statement without backing it up. What if you had a typo? Misread it? Just made it up completely? By linking, you will improve the general knowledge of the board and posters will appreciate that.

By and large, even 2nd rounders are signed to a minimum of 2 years so no, you are quibbling over absolutely nothing. Anything less than 2 years and he doesn't qualify for Early Bird rights and considering that his signing for the remainder of the season counts as a full year it isn't surprising in the least that the team would extend a contract that would run a minimum of 3 years to speak nothing of the total of 4. Additionally, we are not aware at all of the options that may be attached to the contract to be taken aback by the amount of years reported.

So when Parsons is a restricted FA this summer can we steal him away from the wizard Morey and his evil empire known as the Houston Rockets?.....:-/ lol

Oh I wish - that's why Morey is trying to pawn off Asik and Lin and their $15 mil price tag next season.

@Jody23

    [*]The contract that Mike Muscala signed with the Hawks last week is a four-year pact for the minimum salary, as Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders reveals. This year is fully guaranteed and next season is partially guaranteed for $408K, but the deal otherwise contains no guaranteed salary, Pincus tweets. There’s a team option on the final year.
