Lets Trade RATLIFF for KURT THOMAS!!!

imagine this... reef is doubled, so he passes to wide open thomas for the open shot. Kurt can hit the wide open shot with consistancy. Hes also a VERY GOOD REBOUNDER.

with all the talk about his contract in NY... not to mention MUTOMBOs great play as of late (arent they like 7-1 or something when he plays significant minutes?).... and Van Horn + McDysse coming...

y not? im sure picks/scrubs need to be included to make it work... but the core idea is THOMAS for RATLIFF.

No... No... No to Thomas.

First off, we can do better than Thomas.

If you want a trade that some team would go for....

Theo to Houston for Cato/Mobley.

Withthe rise of Piawkwoski, we can take Mobley who is a very good on ball defender, a good ball handler and Cato a good rebounding C with Size...

We give Theo to Houston and he goes to his natural position of PF and Van Gundy is loving his new defensive team...

I would, but it would be too easy.

Anyways, as long as we're talking about the Knicks...

JT for Ward/1st (unprotected)

JT is not a PG. He's only a half decent SG. I'm tired of trying to figure out what to do with him, let him be someone else's problem.

Ward is playing very well this year and is 10x the PG that JT will ever be. Plus, if you really want to cut salary, Ward's 4.5 mil. salary can be cut before January w/o penalty.

Of course, the unprotected 1st is the real prize. Imagine if we could come out of this draft with a Dwight Howard and an Okafor...plus a Raymond Felton.

okay, so his penetrating/creating-for-others skills are only decent for a starting PG.... but look at everything else he brings to the table.

i mean, other than the ELITE PGs... who else brings in this many assists/rebounds as JT? Who plays with 100% energy on this team like JT? JTs shooting itself should make him a keeper... i mean, who else would u go to for the 3 w/o JT?

Ward? Jackson? Glover?

JT is a keeper whos been playing well... not allstar well, but pretty darn well (overall)...

I rather have JT than WARD...

Cyman,

JT has WELL-BELOW average penetrating/creating skills for a PG.

JTs assists are not assists that he has manufactured, rather created because our team JACKS up shots. That is why JT was unhappy to see Big Dog go. He would toss the ball to him and he'd shoot.

Heck, I'd average 5 assists doing that. (if I could get the ball over the half-court line... which is an virtual impossibility that we won't discuss)

JT does NOT play with 100% energy. Running around aimlessly is not energy, it is freaking out and playing out of control. There IS a difference.

I am not saying JT is a bad basketball player. I am pointing to some facts.

JT is a decent shooter and has tremendous speed. Outside of that, he is subpar. He needs a good coach to teach him the finer points of basketball.

Play.

I totally disagree with some of your comments, play. JT is not a decent shooter he is one of the leagues best shooter, he makes most of his shots. JT does create some of the time and he does get assists by some good passes that puts the players in good position. Thats why that pick and roll works so well, by the way he does run the Pick and roll better than JV. So JT is definitely a keeper, JT can flat out shoot with the best.

JTFan,

I know you are as big a JT fan as I am a Reef fan, but let's look at this realistically.

JT does NOT make MOST of his shots. He doesn't even make the majority of them.... the guy shoots 45% this year (with a career average of 43%).

He is NOT one of the leagues best shooters, he is a very streaky shooter. But, he is a good shooter. He is probably in the top 20.

JT does NOT run the pick and roll effectively. He runs the pick and run around and shoot. It never works because JT doesn't ever hit the cutter, he either dribbles wildly or passes off the cutter.

JT is one of the first people I would trade off this team if I could get something (anything) of value in return. He creates too many problems then he solves.

Play.

Cyman,

Seriously, if you want all the PGs that play PG better than JT then all you have to do to get that list is go to espn.com/nba look up players and sort by PG.

If our BACKUP PG (which no other team wanted) plays the PG position better than JT, then really who doesn't? I mean, freaking WILKS played the PG position better than Terry.

Play.

c'mon, we can both agree that JASON KIDD is hands down the best PG in the game...

and that no one is fighting over Damon Jones's services.

and according to ur MAJOR statistic, hes only the 12 best PG...

-----------------------------------

as for Playmaker, if u consider him to be a top 20 shooter... hes a VERY GOOD SHOOTER... not a decent shooter.

While his low 40 percent shooting seems low, thats very acceptable for a POINT GUARD. Heck, Iverson shoots around that percentage.

Cyman,

There is a HUGE difference between JT and Iverson.

Iverson will shoot 38% on a night and still find a way to make the team win and thrive. He is the only player that I know can do that single-handedly.

Terry can NOT do that. He has the speed, but not the mentality.

I really don't even consider Terry a top 20 shooter, but I figured to give him the benefit of the doubt. He probably falls between 25-40th. There are a LOT of bench players that are pure snipers.

JT is nothing more than a decent player when you address all his strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I don't think his strengths compensate for his weaknesses.... at least not at the PG spot.

Play.

A/TO is a measure of effeciency.

However, what you're talking about when you say that Kidd is the best PG in the game is Ability to make those around you better. That being the case, Sure, Kidd is the best all around. He single handedly makes his teammates play on a championship level.

Right now, Baron Davis may do that better than Kidd. BUT, JT fails terribly at making those around him better. In fact, it's a shame that JT talks about we miss Big Dog... Blah blah blah. What he is really saying is that I need somebody with Skill to make me look good. Not the other way around.

JT makes excuse after excuse...but it really isn't his fault he is a confused kid.....we need to stick him at SG tell him to score...never make him initiate a play....and tell him to play the best defense he can....and go from there. Like I said earlier if JT could make good decisions in transition he would probably be in the top three in assists ...if not leading the league.

His post entry passes are horrible...which is a shame because with his range he keeps his man from falling back into the post....this is killing our half court set..when we post we need a good passer that can shoot to feed Reef.
