Moderators AHF Posted June 27, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted June 27, 2014 It is stunning that they could end up moving Asik and Lin during their balloon payment years and get rewarded with a first round pick for giving away the poison pills.
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted June 27, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted June 27, 2014 I must admit I do love watching a GM just swing for the fences Every Single Summer. For Houston fans, this is truly their time of the year. It's Morey Time! ~lw3
Guest
Morey actually has cap flexibility. To be clear, the Asik deal did not actually clear any cap space. It generated a TPE of ~$8.4m. That is cool, but that eats away at cap space. They haven't renounced this because hell that TPE could be more powerful than the cap space. So Morey can use the TPE in a different deal, or he could renounce it and gain Cap Space. THAT is flexibility, multiple options open. When people talk about Danny Ferry having flexibility, it isn't as flexible as what Morey is doing. Danny has a bare-minimum roster. Which isn't necessarily flexible, it just doesn't have much going on.
MaceCase
Forget Morey, he's a perfectly fine gentleman just living the American dream. Let's focus on the Heat, why do teams bend over backward and help them out?! The price to move up 2 picks should be more than a 1st and 2 2nd rounders, there should be a special Heat tax where nothing less than 4 unprotected 1sts can be attached.
