Popular Post Duff_Man
1. How is anyone "Lying on" the team? Are they like a bed or a couch of some kind? 2. Chronic pessimism is not realism. 3. Stop trying to tell fans how to feel. Just because you choose to be miserable every single day doesn't mean everyone has to. Try that in real life. You will just come off as an A-hole. It's a very bad personality trait.

GrimeyKidd
I meant the people saying that Hawks games never felt that exciting before. Anyone here in 2008 knows better. insert zaza game sevennnnnnnnnnnn, gif
Premium Member Diesel Posted July 22, 2014 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 There are some unidentified factors. 1. Coaching schemes. Woody's offense was an iso dominated offense. Iso offenses will naturally be more effecient than others. New York is freakin 11. New York is freaking 4th. No Woody, NY = 19th. By that same token... When Woody was here, we were as good as 7. When LD took over, out offensive efficiency dropped. Less Iso, more ball movement, more TOs.

Less turnover prone, sure but ISO ball allows the defense to focus on the ISO player and the other 4 guys on the floor are just standing around. Nothing easier for a defense and FG% suffers for it. Moderators AHF Posted July 22, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 Iso schemes are fine for the regular season and are a major liability for the post-season.
ag82
I've read every post in this thread and still have no idea what it means to be lying on a team.

Yes that is arguably true, against opponents with inferior to mediocre defense. Against regular season opponents with above average and great D, and in the playoffs it puts too much pressure on one offensive player.
NJHAWK
The games at Phillips vs Indiana in this years playoffs were exciting and you could tell the crowd was pumped. To say it hasnt been that way in 20 years is just bad journalism or amnesia. Atlanta was insane in the games at Phillips during the 1 seed vs 8 seed Celtics series . Horford got into with Pierce, gang signs, Zaza headbuts Garnett. The crowd was alive and big 3 couldnt take on on our court.

We are dangerous in this eastern conference wouldnt be surprise if we win 50 and get into ECF if healthy. Atlanta would go nuts and then just maybe FA start to believe in us.
Moderators AHF Posted July 22, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 Let's be real that the fact that every time the team gets the city pumped up and excited it let's them down is part of the reason they have struggled in growing the fan base. The Braves won so many fans during that worst-to-first season that became life-long fans after finding a reason to believe. Raising hopes and then falling short doesn't win you the same loyalty.

I agree. Losing game 6 after being up by 5 with 3 minutes left really set the Hawks progress back in winning over new fans in Atlanta.

Actually in 2010, we were the #2 Offensively rated team in the NBA, mainly because we got a ton of offensive rebounds and we had an insanely low turnover rate. And the low turnover rate was the reason why the Knicks was so highly rated in 2012 - 13. ISO ball keeps the ball in the hands of the best offensive players, and relies on them to create and make shots.

I see teamrankings.com and Basketball-reference.com calculate Offensive and Defensive rating slightly different. B-ball reference was much kinder to us.
