Do you think that John jenkins could contibute more than just a rebound & a steal tonight?

How many think that Jenkins could have done better than 0-3 with no assist, 1 rebound, and 1 steal.  But yet Bud still prefers to incorporate Mack into the regular rotation without considering an alternative like Jenkins.  There has to be a reason for this approach that isn't obvious to the untrained eye.  Any thoughts on this issue?

Note:  I will not use advanced metrics to make my case! buba.gif

I think he at least has earned playing time over Bazemore. And when I say earned I mean Baze has just been that bad to start the year.

I feel that with Mack he hasnt done anything the lose his place in the rotation, Schröder has just been that good. Mack was always capable of playing as a combo guard though so he is still grabbing minutes at the backup 2. Regardless we arent relying on our bench as much as we did last year it seems as all the starters are in the mid-30s of mpg. Leaving little time for Scott Thabo Antić Mack and Schröder and virtually Zero for anybody like Baze Payne Brand or Jenkins

I feel the total opposite...Averaging 3.7 points per game shooting 21% from three while offering little else means that he hasn't done anything to earn a place in the rotation!

Mack earned his place last year when he was the league leader or close to it in assist to turnover ratio (and again has a sparkling 3 to 1 ratio this year) and shot 34% from 3 last year while playing good D. Granted that 3pt shooting % is nothing to brag about, but it was still better than Teague last year and this year. So while Mack hasn't been good this year, he hasn't played his way out of the rotation anymore than Horford, Thabo and the other struggling players have. Once Schröder shows that he can protect the ball better I would guess that Mack's minutes will go down some.

I am puzzled as to why Jenkins isn't getting any PT though.

Mack is average at best defensively and is nowhere near the off guard that John is..u can tell stat watchers and people who are actually watchin the game..Mack has been playing off the ball since the rise of Schröder .

What makes you such an expert regarding Mack's level of defensive play and his ability as a guard vs that of Jenkins?

It's amazing how some of you fixate on Pero, Mack and Jenkins as if they're some important pieces of this team.

News flash, Mack was re-signed to a multi-year deal while they didn't even bother to pick up Jenkins option and they do t appear interested in having him play.

Perhaps they're wrong about Jenkins but I certainly trust the ones who actually watch him every day vs those who are couch potato scouts.

Finally I find it comical that in your eyes a person must either be a stat watcher or someone who watched the games. Apparently there's no possibility that someone can do both.

There are a couple of players that would be very useful to some of the

bottom feeder teams who have a struggle this season.

Muscala and Jenkins are activated, yet they never see the floor in any game.

Pedro and his Josh Smith three shooting has earned the ire of some fans

even though he does rebound on defense for us.

Moose and JJ are not wanted by Bud, apparently, else he would give them

a minute or two here and there.  He doesn't.  He ignores them.

Some of these teams on the bottom should be happy to give us a draft pick

or two and maybe one of their players for three of ours.

What do you think?  Any one have a hint of a solution?

Mack is an attacking guard while Jenkins is a specialist. Mack also gets at it on defense while Jenkins struggles. But I would like to see Jenkins get a few minutes. Feels like he isn't a chance to prove himself, so there must be something during practice that Bud isn't liking.

Exactly.  It's not like Bud wouldn't want the most effective players in there.   For better or worse I think if you don't execute the plays exactly right you aren't getting on the court.   But it's a long season.  I expect Jenkins to get some time eventually.

Then how do you explain Pero getting so many minutes over Muscala?

Yeah, the Hawks are bound to be down by 20 late in the 4th again this season. :D
