Remember the montage of pictures with the sad faces of their vanquished opponents? The wall of shame? Well, the Hawks are adding folks to that wall at a blistering pace. Who from the Raptors do we add?

Still trying to figure out how they lost by 30 to the Bucks in the middle of all this.

I think the Hawks actually celebrated Xmas on that day. We just didnt see the Turkey/Ham on the court.

that we are not only winning but we are kicking ass plain and simple. I have never seen a team completely dismantle teams on such a consistent basis. We are kicking ass plain and simple. These are not close games.

 

That game in Portland really opened my eyes to it.  They are breezing against the competition.  It's insane how these guys are winning.   Just insane...like the curse of Atlanta Sports was lifted overnight and the collective karma reversed all at once!

Well, the 93-94 season when we traded Nique maybe gave this franchise a 20 yr curse.

 

It's now 14-15 season.  Cursed no more?

The most impressive thing about this team is Coach Bud. I mean think about it player by player on our roster...

 

  • Millsap almost NEVER shot threes while in Utah.  Now he shoots them to the tune of 34.6%.  Not Kyle Korver good, but damn good considering it wasn't a big part of his game before Atlanta.
  • Teague is playoff Teague all the time now.  As Brad Stevens said, "Nobody in the league can guard Jeff Teague".
  • Who knew of Demarre when we signed him?  He wasn't that good of a shooter, but he could defend.  Now we know him as the African-American Kyle Korver.
  • Horford has completely bought into being our center after YEARS of wanting a center.  In spite of tearing his pec for the second time, Bud has Al playing more aggressive and has him on a different training regiment to prevent further injuries.
  • Kyle Korver looks like an All Star in our offense and is the perfect fit for Bud's offense.  By far the most exciting player on the team.  Think of that... A white boy from Iowa is the most exciting player for the Atlanta Hawks.
  • Schröder from year one to year two has grown by leaps and bounds.  He is a more patient player, but still does all the things we expect from Schröder.  He has even improved his shot and is consider our starting PG from the bench.
  • When we signed Bazemore, he has just gotten off a really impressive season for the Lakers.  He was primarily known as a slasher and was best in transition.  The Hawks signed him and the first thing Bud did was completely change the mechanics of his shot.  Now Baze is a key contributor from the bench for us and is a shooter.
  • Mike Scott is our Terrence Jones.  The first two years of his career were one-way.  He was terrible on defense, but under Bud, he is a more complete player.
  • Thabo, oh Thabo.  The OKC reject reborn in Atlanta.  Bud has fixed his shot and gets every ounce of effort outta the guy on defense.
  • Pero and Brand.  Who thought that we could survive with three centers that play outside of the paint.  Somehow Bud has made it work.
  • Shelvin Mack is a great PG and would be the sixth man on a handful of teams.  Another example of a guy who is ready to go when his number is called.

Now look at the roster as a whole... On paper this roster looks like a 7th seed... But we are leading the East by 5 games.  We are road warriors and owned the West.  We compile win streak after win streak and it isn't just 3, 4, 5 games in a row... It's 9, 10, 11 games in a row.  A lot of members on the Squawk were guessimating that we would win 50 games and were deemed optimist homers by the negative Nancy's and the realists... But we are currently on pace for 69 wins.  Sixty f***ing nine.

 

Coach Bud has been the biggest and most impressive addition to the Hawks since we traded for Dominique on draft day.  He has completely changed our identity and has turned a roster of semi-stars and misfit toys into the best team in the East and a team that completely embarrasses the opposition night in and night out.  He has turned this organization into a winner and has made this city into believers.  Attendance is up 4k from last season!  We the South and we play in the East.  Go Hawks and I hope Coach Bud is still coaching the Hawks in his seventies.

Lowry had a good look on the bench.

Lowry (and a list of Point Guards who are "All Stars" and the "Best"...Chris Paul and more) got outplayed by Teague!!!! He was pouting;)

 

Let the media pick their darlings and talk them up (they are all great players)...ignore Teague and the Hawks at your peril. I hope we carry a large, fat chip into the playoffs and beyond.
