Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted February 10, 2015 Author Moderators Report Share Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Great win and all, but who/what the hell was that guy in the game thread pic with Pekovic? Reminded me of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. This guy! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igor_Vovkovinskiy A 32-year old Minnesota resident, cameo star of the 2011 Atlanta-filmed comedy Hall Pass, and, currently, the tallest living man in the United States, at 7-foot-8 and change. Depending on who's measuring, Ukrainian-born Vovkovinskiy is the 9th or 10th tallest man in the world. Also considered the only "Tallest Person" representing two countries, Igor represented Ukraine in the Eurovision singing contest. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/eurovision/10059238/Ukrainian-giant-takes-Eurovision-2013-by-storm.html Side tidbits on tall MFers, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_people: * The 7-goot-8 guy Vovkovinskiy overtook for Tallest Living American, 57-year old sheriff's deputy and ex-Globetrotter George Bell, played college hoops here in Atlanta (at Morris Brown College), and appeared on AMC's Freakshow and FX's American Horror Story. * Second currently in the U.S. (by one centimeter) is a 19-year-old from Washington state. For a few more months, Brenden Adams is the World's tallest teenager. He received endocrinological treatment to arrest his growth so he would not exceed 8 feet. * After Adams and Bell is Kenny George, the 7-foot-7 former UNC-Asheville star who had part of his foot amputated after an unfortunate staph infection obtained, it was believed, during a summer hoops camp. * The late Jorge Gonzalez (d. 2010), a 7-foot-7 guy from Argentina, was drafted by the Hawks in 1988, and became a pro wrestler ("The Giant/El Gigante") for Ted Turner's WCW and the WWE. ~lw3 Edited February 10, 2015 by lethalweapon3
RedDawg#8
Pero gets rest in most back to back situations. I think of Brand as a back up catcher in baseball. He normally gets in once week or every 6th game. I wish we would use him more especially against a team like Memphis whose bigs were going to work against us. A defensive line-up of Brand vs Randolph and Pero vs Gasol could have slowed them down without having to double as much. Somebody mentioned how effective Tony allen was well everytime his man double teamed the post he was left free to make a play on the offensive glass or loose balls. Just something to consider. Most teams with a pair of dominate bigs dont have a dirty work wing player because honestly you dont typically need one and they instead opt for an offensive minded floor spacing type shooter. We wont see another team like them but it would still be nice to get Brand more burn down the stretch esp if Pero is giving us nothing on offense and next to nothing on the glass.

Also keep in mind that our sneaky good rebounding "dirty work" guy is out a few more weeks with a strained calf. The rebounding is going to take a dip with Bazemore in place of Thabo.

The rebounding is going to take a dip with Bazemore in place of Thabo. The defense is slowly dying without Thabo. We'll be okay of course, but he won't be back a second too soon. We went from leading the league in defense at 96.3 to giving up 101 in the 5 games he's missed. Not a coincidence.
Moderators AHF Posted February 10, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted February 10, 2015 P.S. - Good to see that Brand kid back on the floor! It is good to give the youngsters a little run every now and then, right Gray Mule?
