Premium Member BrazilianHawk Posted April 16, 2015 Premium Member Report Share Posted April 16, 2015 I don't expect this series to go beyond game 5, but it's the playoffs, so you never know. We definitely need to stop launching 3s as they were the only possible shot in basketball. Let's destroy them from the inside. Brook can't guard. Let them "jack" the threes and pound them in the paint! GO HAWKS!
Popular Post Dejay
They cost us a lottery pick. Their cops cost us our top defender off the bench. No sleep till Brooklyn...is eliminated...

That is going to be the one upset pick everybody will be going with. And they keep wondering how Vegas gets the $$$ to keep building those casinos. I wonder... Duff_Man
Not even close, watch the nets beat the hawks. I mean, it's not like the Hawks just beat them twice in the past week and a half or anything.
JETSET
Some of the dudes over at Insidehoops is picking the Nets in 6. They are likely having themselves a drink and a heavy smoke while doing so. The Nets will be lucky to win one game while we have the luxury of resting some guys if need be. JETSET
Crap ... One bloody game ... We went from having the 10th pick to having the 15th pick I hope we absolutely DESTROY them in the playoffs!! That rescheduled Portland game killed it. Portland was going to play with their full cast of players on the original date and then they mailed it in on the make up date. The Atlantic division should also get some blame. Has there ever been a worse division? Boston, NYK and Philly were all trying to tank. Nets were 10-6 vs the Atlantic Edited April 16, 2015 by JETSET

DrReality
The Nets are a mess right now with the internal conflicts. If we play our game we should handle them without a problem.

The one thing that gives me solace is the fact that I don't have to stalk the Nets for another 2 years. But that pick shoulda been a top 10. Premium Member hawkman Posted April 16, 2015 Premium Member Report Share Posted April 16, 2015 First, let's have a moment of silence for our lottery pick. Now that that's done, the Hawks need to beat these guys so bad they wish they hadn't squeaked into the Playoffs. NO MERCY!!!
NBASupes
Brooklyn is an average team with no heart. This shouldn't be close but I expect them to compete at times. We must do a better job on Plumlee.

We must do a better job on Plumlee. Need to pay attention to Jack and ol' punch-face Alan Anderson (if he plays). They play hard but fly under the radar at can get sneaky production at times. That hurt us a bit. Thad Young too. I read a funny comment on the Nets' board where a guy said they need JoeJohn to be Playoff Joe for them to have a chance in the series. I was like, "WTF". Joe is more likely to leave early to make a ham sammich than be a big-time performer for them. The days of him rattling off 20-straight points (or w/e it was) vs. BOS in '07 are looooong gone. AUhawksfan
Yeah we lost a higher pick but I'm playing for this season, not for the future. We can worry about that later, our future still looks bright. With that said let's use that as motivation. This should be an easy series but you never know. Lopez is a weak defender inside. Double Joe hard and he shouldn't be an issue. I think Thad will get his but if we hold everyone else in check we'll be fine. Hawks in 5!

Unfortunately, this is wrong. He had his best playoff showing of his career just last season when they played Miami. Averaged 21.2 ppg on 53% FG and 42% 3FG shooting. Do I think he can average that against us? No. But JJ has always been good for at least one star like performance per playoff series ( sans the 2010 Orlando series ). And a lot of those big time games have come on the road. Dejay
If things go as planned: Hawks in a sweep (five at most with them playing Austin Daye 38 minutes in Game 4 to rest the starters) If things don't go as planned: Hawks in six (perish the thought of both JJs getting hot)

Well, to be honest, I was hoping y'all would allow me some over-the-top fan-ish poetic license with that statement. Clearly, the board is out of chill-mode. I'm fully aware he had a great series vs. MIA last year. It could be argued that he out-played LeiBron. Actually, he ate LeeBrun's lunch in a game or two in that series. IIRC, save for LiiBrone's game-saving block, Joe had a pretty epic 4th quarter to almost take that last game. However, as is pointed out in the post below, the Nets are a much different team now than they were just last season. Losing the admittedly aged Paula Pierce and fake-KG are big losses for them. Now Joe would have to carry a much bigger load on both sides of the floor. Can he do it? Sure, he's always had the ability. Will he? Probably not. Brooklyn was much better last year than this year. This. Just as the Hawks are much better this year than last year.
