Seems kinda weak to me compared to other big names that left their home teams.

I don't have a problem with it, myself, but just would like to know why it took 3 days to peck it out and post it. Unlike others, I don't hate Al for doing what he ultimately felt was best, but it kinda demands some explanation as to why he couldn't be bothered to say something conciliatory long before now. C'mon Al.

Clearly, the front office did not want him as much at the Celtics.  The fact of the matter is that the Hawks had a greater need for a true Center and Al needed to move to PF.    

 

The only sour point is that the Hawks got absolutely nothing for his departure.  A SnT should have been negotiated.  I put that on Wilcox.

Better late than never I guess but it will be interesting in our first game against Boston on our court, not the Celtics or Al's new one.

I doubt Celts would have done that. Wilcox had no control since Celts had capspace they could just negotiate with Al and his agent directly and completely cutoff Wilcox.

I'm totally on board moving on and I think Dwight is such a better fit here. I think if we can get or develop one more big gun then we are set for contending.

It wouldn't surprise me if he plays C for Boston.

Not to quibble, but that statement is clear as, uh, mud.  In fact, I'd say it was just the opposite.  The Hawks were willing (seemingly by all accounts) to trade away a better player in PM to accommodate Al after conceding to the five year deal that Al wanted.  They were short on the money in terms of annual salary but it was, what, $28.2 to $27.2 on average?  Had it been about the money Al would have taken the Hawks deal which would have paid him $23M MORE and given him more security (5th year).  I think the Hawks actions showed pretty clearly that he was wanted in Atlanta by Atlanta every bit as much (if not more) than the Celtics. 

Not to get too far off subject, but I'd argue that Alice actually saved the Hawks from doing something they'd later regret by giving him a 5-year deal AND trading away Paul.
