Thomas
And he talked about running for the governor of Alabama a few years ago. Pretty sure we're going to prove him very wrong this season.

Guest
The Hawks are not supposed to make the playoffs every year since Joe was traded - nothing new.

Fixed it for you... I seriously need to apply for one of these sports expert positions when they become available. If this can pass for journalistic expertise, well...

Moderators Popular Post macdaddy Posted October 26, 2016 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted October 26, 2016 I agree that losing Jeff Teague is bigger than folks make it out to be and I think Indy is going to be really good. Still the idea that the Hawks won't make the playoffs in the east flies in the face of logic. Especially when in the same sentence you're saying the Wizards are going to be better. What's that based on? Barkley practically begged Dwight to come to Atlanta last year saying it was a perfect fit. I guess he meant a perfect fit if you want to tank.
Moderators macdaddy Posted October 26, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted October 26, 2016 Quote Barkley, the TNT analyst, spoke on a conference call Monday as part of an ‘Inside the NBA’ preview of the upcoming 2015-16 season with Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal and Ernie Johnson. Barkley offered the following insight when asked about the Wizards and their chances in the East. “They can’t beat Cleveland, Chicago or Milwaukee. They will battle with Miami for the fourth spot. They have a terrific backcourt, I love [John] Wall and [Bradley] Beal but they have to hope Beal stays healthy.” And then this – seemingly out of nowhere … “Atlanta won’t be in the top five in the Eastern Conference.” Wrong about Atlanta, waaaay wrong about the wiz last year. Expect more of the same.

You saying that, what he means is, he hasn't seen them together so he can't imagine them as a playoff caliber team? You think they looked amazing in preseason? I'm not disagreeing, just trying to understand what you're saying. 7 minutes ago, benhillboy said: That man's brain just shuts off from time to time. Kenny can press him into saying anything stupid. LamarHampton
Charles "Nostradummy" Barkley just says random sh!t to stir the pot on the show. I hope our guys see this and use it as motivation and when they're in the ECF they call out Charles for his horrible prediction and let him know that they used it to light that fiya!
Thomas
That was a strange broadcast to start the season with them talking all over each other even more than usual last night. Sounded more like a bunch of preteens arguing over nothing in a small room. And Kenny wonders why no one takes him seriously as a coaching prospect.

In the last 2 years the Cavs have 110 regular season wins we have 108. So even if you think they won't make the playoffs that would be worth a mention. Since Shaq bought the Krispy Kreme on Ponce I'm seriously worried about the health of those 2.

Even by the analytics, outside of fanboys, coming into this season, this team is around 38 to 41 wins. They lost a top 15 PG and a top 15-20 player. Replaced the PG with a very talented but young PG and a former top 2 player who performed at a top 75 level last year. It's fair to say this team shouldn't be that good especially with a bad backcourt wings. But in the preseason, we saw Kyle looking better than even two years ago. Bazemore not wasting movement which was an issue last year. Dennis improvement as a PG and Vintage Dwight. It's fair to say this team will exceed all exception if they continue to play at this level and continue to improve. Popular Post HawkItus
Stop giving what Barkley says so much weight. It's just his opinion. This isn't college sports,. He can't vote us out of the playoffs.
bleachkit
Its all about Dennis and Dwight. Say what you want about Horford and Teague, those guys were very steady.
h4wkfan
Dennis and Dwight's potential is significantly higher than Teague and Horford ever were. Will they reach that potential is another question. So to think we may tank is just as unlikely as winning 70 games. we will fall somewhere in the middle, while making the playoffs. Popular Post TheNorthCydeRises
What gets me, is how people always prop up players AFTER they leave Atlanta, but dog them out while they're here. Boston and Indiana have nice teams, and it wouldn't shock me to see them in the Top 4 . . . even over us. But to try to prop up teams like Detroit, Washington, Orlando, and Milwaukee over us, is just ridiculous. The Hawks looked like a legit top 5 defense in the league during the preseason. If that trend holds during the regular season, we'd literally have to be a bottom 5 offense to miss the playoffs. Of the top 13 defensive teams in the league last year, only ONE missed the playoffs . . . Utah. Why? Because they were ranked 28th in offense. And even they were a game away from getting the 8th seed. I mean, are we going to be the Washington Wizards in 2013, who were 5th in defense but dead last in offensive efficiency. IF he would've elaborated and said something like . . . "well I don't think Dwight won't play more than 60 games this season" or "the Hawks don't have enough 3 point shooting" . . . at least he'd have some sort of foundation to stand on. But to simply say that because we lost Horford and Teague that we won't make the playoffs, is idiotic. We replaced Horford with a guy who will address one of the Hawks biggest weaknesses . . . rebounding. And we replaced Teague with a guy who was routinely taking his 4th quarter minutes in the 2nd half of the season, and in the playoffs. Washington? Really? Come on Chuck. You're usually on point with your analysis, but this is way off.
