Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted November 1, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 Looking forward to it, especially if there's any news regarding The Gulch. And I'd much rather see a $200 million public tab (they're saying $100-150, but we know how that works) toward renovation, than a half-billion-plus for a new arena in some remote location. ~lw3

The Hawks have done way too much to embrace the city residents.

Dang, I knew I shouldn'tve trusted that dude with the scratch 'n sniff business cards.
Moderators macdaddy Posted November 1, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 So here's what i gather from the concept video: windows to the outside - good more suite space - eh elimination of horrible 200 section sight lines - good Super long but very narrow court - bad - i'm a traditionalist indoor fireworks = welding mask night more expensive tickets! It would be nice if they added more side seats for the common folks where the luxury wall is but i know who pays the bills.
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted November 1, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 It's not gonna be halfsies on the $193 million (Hawks chip in $50 mil), BUT bear in mind, the Hawks will be hosting in this venue from 41 to (hopefully) 55 times per year. But the big revenue will continue to come to the city for what is one of the best concert venues around during the remaining 300-plus days of the year. After the Hawks finished up the season opener last Thursday, they were followed up by Adele on Friday and Saturday. Her tickets sold out when they went on sale last December. ~lw3

Dejay
Just looking at this picture, I noticed one glaring thing other than the wall of luxury suits being changed. The upper deck on the other side will undergo a radical shift as well. Last I checked, there were no luxury boxes in the 200 section opposite of the luxury box wall. On this photo, it appears that the upper deck will be drawn back several rows in order to place luxury boxes (and it seems to me, more club seating) in. We need more photos of the interior to be displayed in order to get a full view...

I called that awhile ago when the renovation was first brought up. They're talking about a $1.5 BILLION renovation to the gulch over the next 20 years. That can't be that transit hub they've been doing studies on for the last three decades and running so this pretty much narrows it down...

timebomb
Very rarely post.. actually only once before. As an Atlanta resident and huge Hawks fan not a rich one(middle class). F!ck this! Philips is fine for me. Using tax payer money to boost this city up I'm for. Using tax payer money to make rich people sit more luxuriously is gross.
