While I don't agree about work ethic, he's not consistent. He effort on defense can be down right awful and his butterfingers at times is embarrassing

If he had better work ethic he would have became a better player than what he became. It's inexcusable that he is nearly as raw on offense as he was when he came into the league.

Stats aside, It is quite obvious that D8 isn't providing the same energy defensively and rebounding that he was at times early in the season.

Offensively, it still comes down to not having enough shooters.  We have wings who are bench players at best being pressed into doing more than they should be asked to do.

If Atlanta could convince him to come to Atlanta, that would be a great addition. We need a #1 option and Melo is that.

Dennis

Thabo

Melo

Sap

Dwight

Tim

Moose

Bembry

Prince

Is a great look.

.5 star

Everytime it's a special night (and I'm not talking lil yucky) at Philips the Hawks pit up a stinker. Can't handle a lil extra spotlight.

This is true, losing Kyle just makes the bench worse and the starting five isn't that good. It seems like this team lives and dies off of Millsap. Without Sap playing well, we would lose every game unless Dennis is playing well.

To your point . . .

Hawks are 1 - 6 when Millsap scores 11 or less points

Hawks are 1 - 12 when his +/- is  ( -5 ) and below

Hawks are 19 - 0 when his +/- is ( +7 ) and above

Hawks are 11 - 4 when he scores 21 points or more

When Millsap is just average ( 12 to 18 ppg ) . . Hawks are 14 - 4

Wow....that is pretty telling stuff.

No debate. We need another difference maker.

Look at the three games played this week.

All told, we were only in the lead twice... at all... and for a grand total of something like 5 minutes in 144 minutes of action.

That, no doubt, has Bud very troubled today.

Coming into the season, even with a healthy Korver compared to 15-16, it looked like this roster was at an offensive disadvantage, but at a distinct advantage on the other side of the court. So, naturally, it's less head-scratching about the former, and overwhelmingly head-scratching with regard to the latter.

In a sea of despair, there were these two glimmers of hope... at least where I'm concerned and maybe a few others...

1. Splitter doing some running pre-game.

2. Mike Scott showing up in the box score more like Mike Scott.

Difference makers? Well, no, but I contend that there is a domino effect when your top shelf players are playing extended minutes because the expected back-ups aren't there night after night. That is, depth in general can be a difference maker because of how it enhances your best players' capacity to be consistent by playing fewer minutes.
