Popular Post TheNorthCydeRises
Pull out ALL of the stops man. If you're not going to play Calderon, you might as well go with guys who are bigger than most PGs. The Delaney experiment should be over. He can't defend. He can't shoot from distance. And he can't get to the rim. The only positive to his game, is his midrange jumper. That's it. And I definitely DON'T want to see him in the game alongside Schröder anymore. Analytics show that he has positive numbers, but the eye test show that HE'S not a factor in those positive numbers. If anything, he's riding off the coattails of a hot Hardaway Jr At this point, I'd much rather see Bembry at the backup PG, and see if he can at least play defense on backup PGs. We know he can pass the ball and lead the fast break in transition. I could care less if he can't consistently hit the 3 ball. Hell, Delaney shoots worse from 3, than Josh Smith ever did.
Guest
I totally understand what your saying but we can't turn to a rookie to play backup pg for us with less than a month left in the regular season and into the playoffs. Specially one that we haven't really groomed.
Lurker
He doesn't want to put Prince at PF without Millsap, which is kinda needed to set a good tone defensively to start halves before you try to go in an offensive mode, so why would he put a rookie at PG especially with how balky he is about playing young players? And due to the above (the stretch before the comma), the Washington game is as good as done before it starts.

(Delaney is also a rookie). I'd rather have Bembry play alongside Dennis than Delaney. START NEXT SEASON NOW!!

True that Delaney is a rookie as well but he's had "overseas experience". I share the frustration as well though and feel we might be in trouble if players don't start playing better as individuals and as a group. TheFuzz
I don't think Bembry has the handle to play PG. If Tim can handle PG duties then sure.

One of the last times Bembry was given big minutes backing up Dennis and shooting guard he helped lead a comeback to win a game against the Rockets that looked like a certain loss. Unfortunately that was about twenty games ago and Bud didn't act on it but he showed defense and actually good ball handling just the same. The season of experiments is getting ugly so it would be nice if Bud rewarded those experiments that have worked pretty well. Bembry-backup PG, Prince-starting SF and Kris-backup C. Remembering that game at Houston with a boxscore. http://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/id/400899449

Lurker
Bembry was basically "THE" point guard for St. Joseph's. There was no guard to help him bring it up sometimes, nope, nein, he was "THE" point guard.
Guest
Bringing the ball up as the main guy for a college team seems a bit less stressful than in the NBA against much quicker dudes.
TheFuzz
I haven't seen much that's impressed me tbh. I say why not, but color me surprised if he does anything much out there.
Guest
If we can have Baze running point, no reason why Bembry can't as he's already better at it than Baze.

He wasn't just 'bringing' the ball up though, he was actually running the offense.

Thomas
Not sure what Bud sees from courtside but its not consistent with the view Hawk fans have. A lot has been too obvious to just keep his head buried in the sand. Armchair QBs or not we can see the blatant bad rotations by Bud. Pretty sure everyone in the NBA is aware at this point. Premium Member Popular Post Vol4ever Posted March 22, 2017 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted March 22, 2017 No reason Calderon is not playing. Bud never wants to be wrong and had rather lose than be wrong it seems like.

It's like last year in the playoffs, when Bud was opting to go with Moose instead of Humphries. We were getting destroyed on the boards, and Moose was giving us nothing. Then Horford started getting destroyed as well. The fans knew that Humphries should've been playing the entire time. Bud waits until he's basically out of options until going to Hump, who produces almost immediately. While he's a much better coach, he's also more stubborn than Woody ever was.
