Premium Member Popular Post Peoriabird Posted May 24, 2017 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted May 24, 2017 Warriors' Travis Schlenk has deal to be Hawks' new GM 3:20 PM CT ESPN.com news services Travis Schlenk has verbally agreed to become the new general manager of the Atlanta Hawks, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein on Wednesday. A deal is expected to be announced Thursday. Schlenk currently is in his fifth season as assistant GM of the Golden State Warriors. Prior to that, he was the team's director of player personnel. The Atlanta vacancy comes after coach Mike Budenholzer was stripped of his dual role as president of basketball operations and Wes Wilcox, the former GM, was assigned to a special adviser to ownership earlier this month. The Hawks had interest in former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Chauncey Billups and Wizards senior vice president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard for the GM position. Atlanta is entering a pivotal offseason, with All-Star forward Paul Millsap poised to become an unrestricted free agent.

Lurker
If you can't keep Millsap, you need to move Dennis and fire up the super tank rebuild.
NBASupes
I hope he can land us Porter Jr, Bamba, Ayton and then Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett or Marvin Bagley Edited May 24, 2017 by NBASupes

They need to keep Dennis. He has bad team impact and we can at least build with him. He's not worth a win by any of my data but he has talent and he's still developing. We already know that GMs around the league wouldn't give more than a 2nd round pick for Dwight and I doubt someone will get duped into taking Baze's contract. I am curious to see how the draft goes since he is big on the scouting side. I think the negotiation with Millsap will be the first big test. I think I'm understanding that Colonel Schlenk was hired to be running the camp... but will Bud play Hogan in this drama, and still be the unofficial leader nonetheless? That's what I hope we'll learn during the presser which appears to be set for tomorrow.

Dunleavy is likely going to a team like San Antonio. Kelly might be out of the NBA. Thabo to Houston Millsap to a playoff team who's one player away from semi-contending. I just think Atlanta wants to continue to keep Calderon. I worry about Delaney, he might get traded or worse, cut. Moose is good as gone, he will get at least 8-10 million and someone will overpay because of the need for stretch bigs even if he isn't a good one. Tim is a question mark, I just do not see us paying him a vast amount of money. I do not see him getting more than 10-12 and if he gets more than that, he is good as gone. Sorry but Bazemore is worth more. Bazemore can at least defend and shoot threes at a high clip. The Tim's of the world was great for the 2000's but today, you gotta be all around and consistent. Players who want must keep: Dennis Prince Bembry Edited May 24, 2017 by NBASupes
